Big Bear Camping Trip 06/19 - 06/21/26

We made it up the Big Bear this weekend to go camping at a Yellow Post Site and hang out and do a little adventuring (not really much actually wheeling). Went to our first 2 marked YP sites and they were full so we went to YP 31 beyond the Holcomb Valley Ranch and that was free!

It was my dog Churro’s first time camping (he’s been off-roading plenty and loves it). Was a gorgeous weekend up in Big Bear minus one thing.

Holcomb Valley Ranch was hosting “High Vibes Fest” and their music went all day Friday into 4am Saturday morning and then all day Saturday into 7am on Sunday morning. We were about a mile away from the campground and the music might as well have been playing right next to us. I can’t image the hundreds of people dispersed camping in the area and at Holcomb Creek Campground were thrilled either as it made it super hard to sleep (literally had to put earbuds in to sleep).

Other than that, we had a great time hanging out and exploring. Made it to the Butler Peak Fire Lookout Tower (didn’t climb up to it however) and just spent time exploring around on the easy trails. Even made it into the village for ice cream on Friday!

I was in Big Bear Sunday morning and could hear the music at 9am from the meadow in Holcomb Valley. I cant imagine camping with music that loud all weekend/night.

Yup, during the day just a constant bass. Swear it got louder at night too. Fully expected it to stop by 11pm latest. Holcomb Valley Ranch said the Fest got all the necessary permits and they relied on the FS Rangers to tell people about the noise (which is weird considering it’s on private property). I asked the Forest Service yesterday and they said nope they don’t deal with it and agreed I should file a complaint to SBD County. So I did. Hate to be a Karen but absolutely ridiculous.
