So I've been thinking about this for awhile, wish Ford had made a center cap for the spare. Found a center cap on Ebay for $50 so I thought I would take a shot at making one. First I had to remove the metal Bronco center, then I drilled out the center using a step drill to 2.25".

I had to cut the four long tabs off as they are to long and thick.

I took a Dremel and cut some channels in the smaller tabs so I could reuse the round wire spring. I had to use my hot plastic stapler on the tab to right to reinforce it, I bent it back a bit when I was drilling the center, that is why the plastic looks a little funky around it.

After making a few adjustments I was rather pleased with how it turned out, actually better than I thought. It's tight enough for the spare, I certainly would run it on a rotating tire.

I've also wondered if you couldn't just fit a rubber O ring and just slide it on the camera, of course you would need to make the hole a little bigger.
I have a quick question - I believe the lug nut mounts on the back of the hubcap are right across from each other................but .................. the spare tire is mounted such that no two of the lug nuts are straight across from one another .............. was this an issue, and if so, what did you do about it?
Thanks !

How could the lug nut locations be different, they are the same rims!

Yep, you are right the lug nuts don't line up with the cover, only one of the lugs are used. Didn't really present a problem though.

The hub caps attaching on directly opposing lug nuts.............. but the spare tire mount does not use such lug nuts

Damn. This looks amazing. The lines are perfectly met. The only reason it doesn’t work is because the center bore of the steelies are much larger. I’m trying to think of ways to fab something up.

I bought one of the hub caps and after I build up my nerve to cut into it will give this mod a try.

Cost was $50 but shipping was another $25
