Does anyone carry emergency food & water for unplanned overnight situations?

I have water, first-aid/trama kit, blanket, fire making kit, tire repair kit, 12v air pump, basic tool set, good pocket and fixed blade knife, and last but not least a firearm.

Almost exact same list, save the firearm. Not against them, just don’t want to carry it around.

Water and a breach towel (doubles as a blanket, or toga, or stretcher, or ground cover, or water filter, or bandage, or … Douglas Adams was a genius) are really the two things never out of my truck. The rest are all just icing on the cake.

I have thought about it but the extreme temps inside the car on hot days worry me - what's the shelf life of an MRE at 150 degrees or whatever?

I've never heard of anyone questioning the shelf life of an MRE? Their sanity for trying to eat one? Plenty of times.
