A Tranny skid plate to protect as the Tranny Pan is plastic same as the oil pan.Not only for off road but if you run over something on the road that could flip up into pan.

Ford Bronco If you had to start your build over, what's the first mod you'd grab? Image 1

I agree with others on this list:

Fix the basic Bronco errors first:
Gas struts for hood
Gas struts for rag top
Protection for vulnerable plastic under carriage bits
Mud flaps if you have rock-chucker Territory tires
Fix the interior lighting

Now you are ready for serious off-road mods

Portals with stock suspension or a Vasher Designs VX-Crawler Suspension for the flex. By the time you have the suspension lift to 5" you are changing the geometry and a lot of components cost are not to far off. Yup tons of cash for the clearance, if you are in to those things.

As much as I love the Bronco, if I was buying today my choices would be between Ranger / F-150 and Tacoma / Tundra.

I simply do not have nearly enough storage without moving every single last thing into backpacking class gear.

I removed my rear seat (errrr… “deleted” per the overlanding dorks) on Day One.

Best mod ever. Highly recommended.
That near the top of my list too because I wanted to build a platform for my refrigerator, water and whatever else I can fit in that area. A lot of gear fits under the platform too.

If you got a brand new Bronco tomorrow, which mod goes on first?

Hey everyone — we’re EZ4X4. We make accessories for Jeeps and Broncos, and we’ve been debating this internally.

Say you wake up tomorrow with a completely stock Bronco in the driveway. What’s the very first mod you install before anything else?

What’s your non-negotiable upgrade?

Could be practical, cosmetic, off-road, comfort — anything. No wrong answers.

Curious to hear everyone’s picks.

I didn't realize the base Badlands didn't come with a forward camera. I would have ordered the lux package to get the camera.

This probably doesn't count, buutt got rid of the '24 Badlands with a defective MIC top and got a '25 Badlands with a painted MOD top. Out with the Race Red and in with the Desert Sand. Just wasn't willing to play Fords games and found the '25 for a screaming deal.

First thing I did was a side step, because I did not like the stock running boards.

First would be mud flaps even though I hate them. Next would be the desertdoesit seat jackers. They have made all the difference in my back. No power seats on mine. Last of the most important things would be the gas hood shocks from Redline Tuning.

I ended up doing wheels/tires on my base Sas within 2 weeks only because I had somebody interested in the stock 35's and I found a great deal on some KM3's. But with all the mods I've done so far that all work together really well, I think the FPP tune that I got at a good discount was the biggest thing that made the truck a lot better to drive. The trans shifting improvement and throttle response were immediately noticeable. I could probably benefit from a custom tune now with all the other mods but it drives so well that I don't really think about it.
