Ok...sure, but losing a day of leave costs me...a day of something. :computerrage:

Guess my example relates more to hourly workers vs. salary, but the point is $250 is peanuts for shoddy service.
The point is as soon as anyone tries to relate either hourly wage or salary to how relatively valuable their time is they are mistaking cost for value. They are not the same and in this case how valuable his time is, is moot. He wants/ needs his Bronco properly fixed. :)

It may look like peanuts compared to the nearly $1k paid - but I bet that’s probably his entire profit margin on the job, and maybe some more on top of it. There is a lot of overhead built into a shop rate, even for a guy with no shop working out of his truck. Not too many mechanics out there getting rich by turning wrenches.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not trying to justify the bad work they did. Just pointing out that he’s making a good faith effort and trying to make it right - which is more than a lot of places do anymore. And by refunding the profit ~and~ fixing it the shop is out double labor and shop time; they will lose money over it.

Refunding the profit and fixing the issue really should be the most you expect without going to court. That’s where you can push for getting compensation for lost time, pain & suffering - all those good things.

Service providors and hardware vendors in the West all fail to appreciate that a customers time is non renewable and priceless and most pay with after tax currency, mostly because the folks building and delivering the service have very low value time and dont respect other peoples time. Most also dont care about reputation which should be their highest concern inthe age of social medai.

I drop the losers instantly after giving them one documented chance to fix, escelate to top immediatly, or get CC charges reveresed when not resolved quickly on the basis of service or product not received. A defective service or product is "not received" Usually works with limited time input.

Some time I will documet interactions with persons during resolution process so when I do escelate they learn to be sensitive to wallet holders, or get fired.

All good now. Shop returned a good portion of the money and their master mechanic did the work and realigned again. Not sure I will ever go back but at least they made things right.
