I wanted to share my experience installing the Trail Seven Kicker 12" Powered Subwoofer kit. In my mind, this is an "almost perfect" plug-and-play solution.
Installation Details:
Overall Impression: This sub is a great addition to the existing B&O system, which definitely lacks low-end power from the factory.
Installation Details:
- Power: The kit includes pre-cut and terminated power/ground wiring. I opted for the optional fuse mount, which is very sturdy and utilizes an existing bolt by the battery for a clean mount. I routed the power cable through the factory firewall grommet.
- Signal: The kit comes with T-taps to pull signal from the driver-side kick panel, but I’m not a fan of tapping factory wires. Instead, I used a Bronco-specific speaker harness and soldered it to the included RCA harness for a 100% PNP setup.
- Control: I mounted the bass knob directly under the steering wheel, which makes it easy to adjust the levels on the fly.
Overall Impression: This sub is a great addition to the existing B&O system, which definitely lacks low-end power from the factory.
