My first Braptor mod was something practical. An 8yr/100K extended factory warranty with LED headlight coverage from Granger. Prices are going up so if you’re thinking about it, pull the trigger soon. I also got full ceramic 30% tint on all windows to include windshield. Keeps the intense Bama sun from baking me inside my rig. I am more than happy with the stock power output and performance so I didn’t see a need for a tune. Last one I did was adding 3W all weather mats because the factory ones felt cheap. I have kids and their shoes always seem to be covered in some kind of yuck.

I did a lot of little things I thought were missing. I call it my "practical" build as I didn't want to do a tune given I have an extended warranty. May find it helpful. https://www.broncoraptor.com/threads/apes-2023-practical-build.2439/
Thanks for sharing, your Raptor looks great.

How would you quantify the overall power differences between the Hummer and the Braptor? I suppose I can look up the HP/torque numbers for the Hummer, but from a driver/owner perspective. Obviously the EV should have a better launch feel….just curious since you’ve owned both.
Hmm. This is a tough question. Mainly because there is rather no comparison. My Hummer is the 3X version, which has 1000HP and torque numbers likely just as high - so the speed/get-up difference is incomparable. The Raptor feels super slow and sluggish compared to the Hummer but that is expected and not something that surprised me. I guess for us ICE people it's just not about speed, but rather the overall experience and joy of driving the vehicle. So even with the Raptor being massively slower than the Hummer, the engine vibrations in the cabin, sound of the exhaust in sport mode, and overall driving pleasure with the combination of all these things is far better than what you get in the Hummer.

Nothing wrong with the Hummer if all you care about is going fast and quiet but it's just not the same thing. For example, I once ran off a stop light with a S65 AMG while I was in my Hummer in comfort mode and we were neck to neck for a block or so and then I had to turn off. So Hummer can certainly hold its own in a straight line but there is more to vehicles than just speed imo.

NIce rig, enjoy!
Way to one up the neighbor too...
Haha. He will be fine. As said, that's my old Bronco that I let him take over my lease a year and half ago. He will be done with his in July and will likely be returning it.

Yup, definitely understand your reasoning. Wouldn’t have bought a Braptor myself if it was only speed I was chasing. Really just curious about power/speed differences from someone who’s owned both. I did get a modest HP bump from Ford’s ProCal tune, but it’s really the optimized shifting in sport mode that I find to be the biggest improvement.

Didn’t know there was a 1000hp Hummer version, interesting.

Thanks for the review.

Honestly, if you ever get an opportunity to drive or be in the 1000HP Hummer, try it. It's hard to explain. I am used to it now that I have had it for a year and some but early on I remember just gunning it from light to light for the sake of it. The speed off the line will blow your mind - especially when you realize you are in a 9000 lbs+ tank. I am not new to fast/super cars and have owned many over the years but what sets Hummer apart is that you just don't expect that kind of 'throw you in the back your seat' acceleration from such a large vehicle. Where it falls short for me is when you're doing that the sounds it makes is like a freaking space ship from Star Wars instead of a screaming engine coming from a v8, v10 or better. It's got linear acceleration with 0 turbo lag or anything of the sort so the moment you put your foot down it just goes. Tires can't keep up and lose traction constantly despite it being so heavy so it's that kind of a torque. Do I enjoy it - for sure. But I enjoy the overall feel and pleasure of driving an otherwise fast ICE vehicle which may or may not be as fast as the Hummer due to the other factors I mentioned.
