Unlike my Land Rover, I don’t believe the Ford version can also be toggled on/off to be a “typical” rear view mirror - it’s always a screen.
It's actually the exact same mirror that LR uses and we had on our Defender, so it functions the same. The only difference is that Ford seems to have picked the model without Homelink (which seems like an oversight since they took away the Homelink buttons on the sun visor)

This is the connector to the mirror from the factory harness without the digital mirror (normal mirror). It's a 16 pin connector, but they only run 3 wires to it. I believe those wires are Power/Ground/Reverse (sounds like this mirror uses that to lock out dimming while in reverse). I believe this is a MOLEX MX150 connector.

We just need to figure out what the connector is on this new Digital mirror and what the pin out is. Certainly more wires. Wondering if it is power/ground/reverse/Canbus?.

I'd think all you would get is more rear tire in the view. The cameras do have a "angle" adjust so you can basically "tilt" the view up or down. The camera is not moving; it is just changing what part of the image you get to see. Same with the zoom feature, it is just a digital zoom. Once you set both to your liking, you don't really mess with them.
Oh yeah of course. I know it’s all in software. Never once did I think it’s a mechanical feature :).

Here’s what GM camera looks like in use. Very similar to the mirror Ford uses. It’s an absolute game changer (this was on my Yukon on my drive this morning).

Here is the non-OEM version of the mirror with install instructions and wiring diagram. In this case they are showing a neg and then two switched 12, which is a little strange. But as expected, wiring does not look complicated. I don't think we need a new factory harness, just tap into the existing mirror wires and then use the coax cable back to the camera.

So the most cost effective solution to get very close to "OEM", would be purchase the VOXX mirror kit which comes with the extra wiring you need, including the coax. Then order the 2026 Bronco rear light (I already ordered on, comes today). You might need the OEM camera part as well if it has a specific mounting solution to mount in the rear light lens.

After installing my Wolfbox I can absolutely say this is a great OEM feature and glad it's finally available BUT I really do like the added convenience of the integrated dashcam and recording capability of the Wolfbox.

Update on my progress to retrofit: Things are coming together and I am just waiting for the factory rear view camera to mount in the new 3rd brake light lens. The Factory ford (Gentex) part (S2DZ-17700-A) is now back in stock for about $1000 from various Ford dealers, but I decided to first try using the GENTEX GENFDM3LN, which is the non-OEM label (generic) version of the same mirror. GENTEX uses the VOXX brand to market it. The only real difference I can see is that the generic version has a different light/dimming sensor and it also allows for a 2nd camera to be hooked up (sort of like the Wolfbox). The reason I wanted to try to get the VOXX version to work is:
1) it's about $150-$200 cheaper than the Ford version(w/ a discount). The VOXX version is $800 and the Ford version is $1500 (but discounted to $1000)
2) It's pretty much the exact same mirror... same mount, etc.
3) and this is the big one: it included all the wiring needed. You really don't need much, but it does simply things a bit. Just looking at the wiring harness and the COAX cable that runs back to the tire camera. I could have looked around and sourced a COAX cable the correct length, and I could have just spliced wires and made it work, but I wanted to avoid all that... and since it was cheaper, why not.
4) it includes an extra camera you can use as a 2nd interior camera. Why do I say interior? Because the camera included in the VOXX kit is apparently not waterproof, so it is designed to mount to your rear glass window. But you could use this camera as a rear seat view (if you have kids) or something like that. I don't actually plan to use it, but maybe someone will find a good use for it.

I did a trial fit of the new VOXX mirror and as far as mounting goes, it is a direct swap from the non-digital 2025 bronco mirror (which is also made by GENTEX). Do you just back out the screw, pull of the old mirror, slide on the new mirror. Exact same placement/size, etc. yay.

Next up is wiring. The factory non-digital has 3 wires running through a 16pin harness. The VOXX mirror (and likely the OEM Ford version) have a 12pin CE connector. Pins are all about the same size, so my first approach will be to pull the pins from the 16pin male connector coming from the roof and repin them into the 12pin male connector for the VOXX version. If that works, its will just plug in from what looks like the factory wiring. if that doesn't work, I will look for an adapter for the plugs... and lastly I could just splice in the wires.

For the camera... pretty simple, I just need to run the camera coax from the mirror area to the right rear corner, then through doors wiring mesh to the door itself and up to the 3rd brake light.

If this all works out, you only need to purchase three things: VOXX version of the mirror, the new 3rd brake light, and the Ford camera part that fits in the brake light.

Here is the new mirror mounted up.

Amazing!!! Please do keep us updated!
Also what do you mean by “different dimming sensor”? Is it the color or shape?

Congrats on doing all this. It looks like you're missing the gasket that goes inside. This is the problem I've faced when retrofitting third brake light cameras over the years. Ford does not sell that gasket anywhere to the best of my knowledge. This is what it looks like.

Any idea what the ID, OD and Thickness is for that gasket? We can see if we can source something that will work.

I do not unfortunately as I've never had one in hand myself. I ended up just using RTV for my use cases

Adding a note (so I dont forget later) that the camera is held in place with #8 self tapping screws, I used 1/2 deep. Not sure what the Ford part number is for the actual screws, but guessing Ford uses 4.2mm diameter.
