The two are very different. It mostly comes to the comms cable between the camera and the mirror in addition to the fact that Gentex only supplies aftermarket non-weatherproof camera. At this point, I’m waiting on Infotainment.com to come up with a solution though it’s currently only 10% there.
So for option 2, factory setting was: 0300-0F00-0095. If I wanted red when door is open (and back to normal setting when closed) what would that look like?
as for option 3: what if I wanted green when entering and then back to normal when closing door/ starting car?
Thank you!
So when I go to this module, the first two numbers are 03. Does that mean that when I get the multi color LEDs, when I open the door, ambient will change to red?
So after some more research, I believe the aftermarket Gentex mirror expects an analog signal (which is what the included camera uses) while Ford’s 3rd brake light camera is sending out a digital signal. Basically I don’t think the aftermarket mirror will work. So we either find a compatible...
FYI, I think https://www.bobsmirrors.com/ would be able to create a custom 16 to 12 pin adapter going forward. They have experience with Gentex mirrors and mirror retrofits in general from my brief conversation with them.
Regarding the “reverse mode”.. I mentioned it originally. It is true. I saw it on a demo video somewhere online (I think Facebook). But I agree, it’s not necessary.
A bit of a tangent here but I can’t believe the random stuff they are removing. I didn’t know about the homelink delete. I will eventually get a smart garage controller and operate it via the CarPlay but still. This low tech stuff is so quick and reliable (mine has it and I find it very useful)...
I believe to have found the brake light itself!

and I think this is the camera that goes inside of it! https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-camera-assembly-s2dz19g490a
this is the mirror cover...
