Eye Ring connections for battery charger/maintainer

Any of the bolts off the side are ok (on the upper right in the pic) - just not on top of the terminal

Since I don't drive my Bronco a lot I put a charger/maintainer on it often to keep the battery up. I have a NOCO 5 amp that I use and have grown weary of using the charger clamps. Looking to install a NOCO GC002 eyelet terminal connector to make hook up of the charger easier and not use the clamps. I have the negative place figured to connect so as not to mess with the BMS. My issue is where to mount the positive eyelet to the battery post. In over 60 years of working on vehicles I have never seen a more complicated battery post connection like Ford's. Anyone else put a NOCO eyelet connector on their Bronco battery? Which bolt do you use to loosen the battery clamp to install an eyelet. Would appreciate any help, suggestions and pictures if possible. The worthless owners manual produced doesn't even tell you any on how to use their oddball clamps . Thanks in advance

I had updated my battery terminals to some of the billet ones from SDHQ and connected my NOCO GC001 for my Genius2 via one of the 1/4 bolts on the front of the positive and on one of the 1/4 bolts on the negative distribution block. Works great.

They'll work great for a while but keep a close eye on them. It's not a bad idea to periodically measure the voltage drop between the battery post and the terminal.

Aluminum terminals are a bad idea.
1. Very prone to corrosion in presence of moisture. Lead and aluminum form a galvanic couple when connected. Add a little humidity and the aluminum will start corroding. In the presence of an electolyte lead and aluminum become a 0.5-0.6 volt batttery. Aluminum is the sacrificial element. This means you'll end up with a high resistance connection.

2. Stainless steel hardware makes the problem worse. Stainless steel has a high nickel content. When nickel touches aluminum in the presence of moisture it accelerates corrosion. Again it's the aluminum that's eaten away.

3. 6061 aluminum is rigid, so the terminals won't make as good fo a connection as lead or copper terminals.

4. When the connection heats up due to high resistance the aluminum will expand. Aluminum won't spring back which makes the connection even worse. This why aluminum wire was banned for house wiring without the use of specific wiring devices.

5. Aluminum oxide is an insulator and it forms very quickly on bare aluminum. Again you'll have a high resistance connection that will worsen over time.

Keep a fire extinguisher near by if you insist on using billet battery terminals. The connections can eventially overheat.

Aluminum should NEVER be used for wiring or wire connectors.
