Just like on other recent Fords I’ve owned, they expect us to use a prop rod for working under the hood. No thanks! I saw that Ford offers a kit, part # M-16826-B. Like others, I wish that they did it this way from the factory. However, after installing their kit today I can say that it was not very hard to do.
Driver’s side. Remove the forward hood latch bolt and reinsert over their bracket. Pop out that white harness holder before trying to place the new bracket. You can reinsert that white harness holder after you’re done at each side.
Passenger side
The gas struts hold the hood a bit higher up than the prop rod did. No sweat, I can still reach it.
