I have the Borla S-Type axle-back (just muffler), with dual outlet. This is the quietest of the Borlas. I love it - no drone, it's noticably louder when you get on the gas but if you drive like a grandma you can hardly notice the difference. Probably the mildest exhaust upgrade you can do.
The Borla Touring is their quietest system, the S-Type is the 'medium', and the ATAK is the loudest. The Borla Touring does have a reputation for being one of the quietest by those on 6G.
I have the Borla Touring cat-back system. It was quiet at cruise, barely noticeable. On light acceleration it makes a little noise, and howls pretty good with heavy acceleration. In stop and go traffic, it rumbles a little.
I wanted it a little louder so I took off the resonator (2.7 system) and made custom tailpipes. It still has the muffler up front.
If you want quiet, why even change from the stock exhaust? They really don't add any power.
I just installed the Borla S-type axle back today and love it. Perfect sounds at start up and when jumping on the accelerator, but normal cruising noise it really isn’t noticeable from inside at all. I call it the well behaved exhaust.
I got mine from Amazon - they had an open box for $730 bucks compared to the $1300 - came quickly and was a smoking deal, too good to pass up!
While it seems that the Borla Touring series might be what you are looking for noise level wise if you are interested in the Borla S-Type the Ford Performance version by Borla is on deep discount currently that you really can't beat for the price...
None of the Borla made exhausts regardless of noise level, Touring, S-Type or ATAK have drone.
I got a Borla Touring axle back for new year. I hate any sort of loud exhaust on non sports cars.
Only two reasons I got it:
1. Stock one is making a metal rattling noise on upshift(only during very cold weather) I suspect the internal baffle is touching the casing as the cold makes it shrink I guess. Dealer is charging $99 diagnostic fee and they can't "duplicate" it.. I gave up warranty replacement.
2. I also like a dual exit exhuast that is subtle, not hanging too low, poking out too much or have ridiculously large tips.
A black coated Borla Touring is perfect. Installed, though I wish is bit quieter.
Sounds meh, like a Kia V6 in this video:
Unfortunately there is no aftermarket chambered muffler. They all the straight-through type, which all sounds loud in various degree.
Took me half an hour to install it. Tips were bit lopsided using the old hanger.
Had to use an adjustable hanger on the driver side to even it out.
