New Bumpers from TURN Offroad

Love this bumper and really considering going this route for the swing away. Makes more sense to me than reinforcement of the tailgate hinges.

Good luck to those of you getting this bumper/tire carrier. Neither iteration worked well for me, but I have to give @Turn Offroad and @TURN Todd a shout out for making it right. They shipped me out their tailgate reinforcement and zero series bumper free of charge, even after sending me a complete new v2 bumper/tire carrier that didn’t work out.

While this product might not be the best, their customer service has been stellar.

This is 100% the reason why I'm willing to give this a shot. I know they'll make it right in the chance this doesn't work out the way it should.

Thanks! Still a little fuzzy on where the rigid flood lights run to come on in reverse. I'm horrible with wiring things, but did grab those harnesses from SPV parts from around page 3 in this thread. I guess it'll become clear at some point haha

Keep us posted! I "installed" the lights so I didn't have two square wholes in my bumper, but I never wired them lol. They're just for show on my bumper haha

Also I have a 2021 basesquatch, so I don't have sensors and thus mine are all plugged.

I read through this whole post. I was excited to purchase the rear bumper with tire carrier. After reading about all th eissues, I am apprehensive. Anyone know if they sorted these alignment issues out. Would anyone reccomend this set up? Or does anyone have a reccomendation for another option? Thanks!

Currently fighting tooth and nail with the supplied sensor retainers 🫩...horrible time to hit this roadblock with no ass end on the car.

For whatever reason (incorrect product being the most likely culprit), I had to semi-hollow out each sensor retainer to allow it to seat and lock both tabs on either side. Luckily, everything fit, and no errors or false alerts so far. However...that license plate relocation bracket wiring...good grief, what a journey. Worked flawlessly one time testing, now it isn't functioning. My guess is the quick disconnect is going to end up being a permanent connection by the end of all this

I had to take off the rubber “gasket” on the end of the sensor and everything clicked into place. No issue. I fought it for a while before figuring this out.

Now the bearing seal this needs to sit on won't fit unless this crazy dent is addressed. I'm slowly regretting not going Expedition One and paying the extra grand.

Finish Line (60 minutes my 🫏):

Still have to address my license plate light being out (my fault entirely for wire stripping too well and ripping the negative out of the connector). Would I do this again, or recommend this...absolutely not. There's way too much information missing and QC issues to justify the purchase. I may go back and lower the tire mount a bit, I miss not having it creep into my rear view.

Do you think it would have been a shorter, easier install without some of the issues you pointed out? I understand ANY issues that pops up add to installs, trust me, I know about it all to well. But this is another review of this bumper, not quite going on the way TOR says it should go on.

Overall, Turn needs to address supplier issues (I received a dented swing gate arm, quite a few scratches down to bare metal in random spots that wouldn't be possible during shipping, didn't have enough backing nuts for the tire carrier stem, and have no extended rubber bump stops like the video mentions, for example), and their video instructions (updated or not) completely lack the callouts like "remove the white seal from around your parking sensors before seating them in our supplies retainers" or "you need to seat the bearings by tapping with a flat head screw driver or something similar + a hammer. Their video showed it just dropping in place, which was pretty misleading. I'm glad it's over with, but only because the disassembly makes it a "zero turning back" scenario.

When it's all said and done, I am happy to not have my spare tire hanging off my door with those iffy hinges from Ford, but man this was a struggle that didn't need to be so rough. Granted, I'm looking at it through the lens of "Expedition One is over 2K in most places, this is half that. Half the price, half the quality ". Just hope others are aware this is doable, it just takes patience and several trips to your hardware store to meet Turn in the middle. I did a brief speed bump test with the tire mounted and it's solid so far.
