Just got two tubes of gasket lube from Amazon for my Bronco squeak symphony.

One was $38.48 and one was $13.71

Guess which:

Unless you’ve shopped for these before, you probably guessed wrong.

The Sil-Glyde already silenced my tailgate area squeaks completely. I put a thin coat on the back window lower seal where it meets the tailgate, and also on the tailgate area seal on the body, just on the spots where the tailgate bump stops make contact with the seal. Plus the one little body mounted bumper on the left. I used a bare finger to spread it on after cleaning and drying the seals. Applied where red is:

Now for the roof squeaks, I plan on using the tiny 0.5 oz tube of liquid unobtanium that came with a material safety data sheet but no directions. Not sure how I’m going to apply it yet. Maybe just a tiny bit on a nitrile-gloved finger and rub in on? I’m definitely not using any kind of cloth or pad that will absorb it. If you’ve done this before with Krytox and know of an ideal application implement to maximize coverage, please let me know. Thanks.

Very little Krytox goes a long way. Just put it on your finger and use sparingly on the gaskets.
The one drawback, if you do any off-roading, dirt will collect on the gasket where the edge of the tailgate rests and will grind into your paint. Clean the dirt off often.

Good tip. If the Sil-Glyde I already put in becomes a dirt/dust magnet, I will consider putting a couple layers of PPF on the upper inside edge of the tailgate. Just wiping the dust off the gasket with a damp cloth worked short term for me but I collect dust on the back just going down our gravel entry road at home.

2 great products. The SilGlyde can also be used on the rubber gaskets/seals for both hard and soft top seals as well. Been using it for decades on my Jeeps and now Bronco.

Krytox can be applied with your finger (very sparingly as it goes a long way and just a little dab will do ya. This is a Porsche specified lube for articulation points on the cabriolets.

Another great lubricant for rubber is Gummi Pflege which comes in a small applicator bottle like old skool shoe polish. 👍🏼

Does the Krytox dry or stay tacky? Wondering about how long to wait after applying before putting the panels back on.

Krytox doesn’t really dry per se - it stays slightly slick but will get absorbed by the rubber - it’s best application is applied to solid surfaces. Personally, I think Keytox is overkill for the Bronco and the SylGlide or Gummi Pflege is a better option for rubber seals.

I finally got around to cleaning and lubing the roof gaskets today. Just used a damp microfiber cloth to wipe the dust off all the gaskets and the mating surfaces of the top panels and then dried with another.

I went with Sil-Glyde for the lube and the immediate results were great. All roof squeaks and creaks were silenced going down our steep, bumpy, washed-out gravel road. It was as quiet as the day I brought it home.

I’ll see how long it lasts and will save the tiny tube of Krytox for a plan B option or another use altogether.

In that case .... "Not impressed."

LOL! Mine (2dr MIC) has always been noisy, especially as it gets colder in the fall and winter.

I hit the seals real quick with Aero303 and that helped short term, so the the sil-glyde sounds like a good idea.

I'm also wondering about the difference between syl-glyde and the Super-Lube that I have on hand.
I'll have to look into that.
Maybe that'll work as well???

I hit the guide pins on the hard top with a tiny amount of Super Lube years ago and they have been fine ever since.
That was one annoying popping clicking sound!! LOL!

Call me crazy but this stuff worked fantastic for me and can be found at any store. I only dabbed a small amount on the weather seal and now have zero creak from the back seal and I have been off-road several times and few off-road trips. Makes seal ultra soft too and a little goes a long ways! Plus way cheaper than the stuff you listed. ☺

I guess it smells good?

I’ll stick to super lube but hey if it works for you I won’t knock it. Too much.

Saved by the forum again! Applied Sil-Glyde as described in OG post and all creaks are gone!

Used some Boeshield T9 on mine and made it nice and quiet. Guessing periodic wipe down/clean up after off road dirt/dust be be SOP ….
