when I left Kalifornia 30 years ago the registration fees were based on the sales price of the car. Is rhat still the case?

in Orygun, it has gone from $20/year to $98/year (but paid bi-annually so it is $196 every 2 years) plus a $25 DEQ fee.

Regardless of the price of the vehicle. A Porsche 911 pays the same registration fees as a Honda Civic. I think EVs get screwed in a different way, but since I don’t own one of those, I don’t know what their registration fees are.

Wow, I thought WA would be right there with CA since our leaders share the same uh….”values” but I paid just over $100. We voted in $35 tabs but that’s been “adjusted” for us.

How did you get away with $100 in WA? 2022 ford bronco 2-door, and I paid $432 in RTA excise tax alone. Total was $560.

$850 here in Tax-a-Rado for renewal on our 23 Wildtrak 2dr, though $29 of that is an optional parks pass.
Along with about 10 other add-on fees, they charge $0.23 fee for the sticker, a $4 fee to hire DMV clerks for collecting the $$$, but police fee is less than a buck. Wife's 24 Aviator was a bargain at $1800 compared to what the cost of a fully loaded F350 may go for. Our 23 open deck car trailer renewal was only $185. Guess that is why we see so many expired tags... Also see a lot of MT plates on expensive cars and motorhomes.
I read a survey that stated Colorado allegedly tied with Hawaii for highest registration cost with the roads the 5th worst in the nation.
