Got some new shoes today: Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT Tires in 35x12.5 r17

Replaced the OEM Sasquatch Goodyears with a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT
Went with 35x12.5 r17.

Only 30 miles or so on them so far, so I can't give em a full review, but they look beefy.

I'm honestly surprised that more people don't run them.
I must say though I don't think Mickey Thompson does a lot of marketing, and my dealership straight up said they don't carry the brand.

The Baja Bosses are specked at 34.5" the OEM's at 34.4".

At about 15 lbs more per tire I'm interested in knowing if your mileage decreases and your braking distance increases.
Have you noticed any increase in road noise, the reviews list them as somewhat loud?

They look bigger than OEM. With the butt dyno I can feel they're heavier tires but probably not nearly as much as 37's(she doesn't feel slow).
I would feel uncomfortable with them if I did not already have a tailgate reinforcement and this week I'm getting the BroncBuster bushing and tie rod clamps installed for good measure (I live 10 mins from their shop).
My Bronco does see a lot of trails, but I'm what I would consider a "finesse" rock crawler. I pick my lines carefully and have only bumped over an obstacle once due to wet conditions, I use my lockers a lot but I don't sit and spin my wheels.
I will be going to Merus Adventure Park at Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas panhandle in a couple of weeks which will be the first true test.
They are absolutely heavier than OEM. Over the 30k mile life of my OEM Goodyears I averaged 18mpg (I live in a rural area so she rarely sees stop and go traffic).
I do expect the mpg to decrease but It'll be a bit before I can really compare the mpg fairly.
If people remind me in this thread, I'll report back on mpg. I have Merus in a couple of weeks and a trip to Hidden Falls Adventure Park planned for November, so 2 off-road trips in the next month.

As far as the road noise....I have a soft top and a Roush exhaust....so they are at most on par with OEM on noise, but possibly better. Hard to tell bc of the wind and exhaust noise.

I did the same. Absolute the boss at 35s. Got about 6k on them and they are quiter and ride better to me. Running 34 psi

Damn those look beefy. When my factory Duelers bite the dust I am 99% sure going Baja Boss ATs 285/70/17s.

All though the meathead in me still can't get past how much I love the look of Ridge Grapplers lol

I think they will slowly eat away at the Ridge Grappler which is getting long in the tooth and performs poorly in snow and ice.

Those are manufacturer specs and are not what you get once mounted and under vehicle load.

For instance, most 315/75R17's are going to come in somewhere around 33 1/4" when mounted and under vehicle load.

A 35x12.5R17 will probably come in somewhere around 34 1/4" when mounted and under vehicle load.

Since the questions was how does it compare to the stock tire, the specification of both aren't a horrible place to start.

I think you're restating the obvious, it would be impractical to measure under load as everyone's load will be different. Although manufactures could provide specifications mounted with a load applied, I'm afraid it would not be any more accurate than the specifications provided unmounted with no load considering the variation in rim widths, load values, and tire pressures.

Since 315's don't all measure 315, and 35's don't all measure 35" it is helpful to have an actual measurement to compare the different tires. While inaccurate, the specification is the best we have available to compare two tires.

I replaced my SAS tires with MT Baja Boss AT's at 1K miles and now at 3K I have no regrets. I air down to 20-22 psi on the trails and they are very comfortable over rough, scree covered trails and I have no more worries about weak sidewalls which was a major concern with the Territory tires. The Territory's did fine on the slick-rocks of Moab during Off-Rodeo but that is not what I hunt in. The rocks in my area are more "pointy" and shred lesser tires.

Fuel mileage went down by 1-1/2 gpm but I did not buy the bronco for a daily commuter.
