Okay guys, I'm learning that the search function on this site isn't the best (I actually haven't been on a forum in a long time that has a good search function), so I'm not seeing what I'm trying to find.

I'm looking for options for a top-of-the-windshield light bar, and yes, I'm finding lots of options on the good old web. But I like to get LOTS of information on power draw, install difficulty, etc, before I buy anything like that.

I also didn't realize that the AUX switches have different power ratings - good to know! But that's where part of my issue is coming from. For instance, F150LED has a 50" light bar I think, with a complete install package, that has a relay to turn the bar on and off...but the install directions say to use AUX 1, which has a 30amp rating. I find it hard to believe that a relay draws that much power. I could understand if the lights were powered directly through the switch, but it's not - the lights are connected direct to the battery with the relay to close the circuit.

So what I'm looking for is this: What have you guys put up there on yours (prefer bars, they're cheaper, don't stick up as high, and less wiring even though daisy-chaining isn't that difficult but it's exposed)? How did you wire them in to your Aux switches and what switch did you use? How much power draw (amps preferred but I can do the math if need be)? Any issues if you've had them on for a while?

Show me some pics, give me some details, please!

I went with the Project X Bar - looks fantastic, excellent price (they're running a KILLER special at the moment - roughly 1/3rd the price of the KC Titan lightbar) no daisy chaining (a single light harness for all the lights) and installs cleanly into your Aux 1 switch. I thought the 8 light KC looked too "busy" - so the 6 lights looks cleaner.

I know, I know, "busy" is relative when I've got 12 on the front end, but hey.... that's less than 16. ;-)

Draws about 20 amps.

That does look good, and if it were just up to me I'd do something like that. However, my wife drives it too and it's going to be our son's primary vehicle in a couple years (he's getting to that age...kinda scary to think about) so their input is important...and they want a bar light, not several round lights. 'Less pronounced' was their words. So I'm looking for a bar light setup.

I'll keep this in my back pocket though, and the diagram is going to be helpful for sure. Thanks again!

I put the Heretic 40-inch LED set on my Trailrax TRMX roofrack. Very happy with the aesthetics and performance. You can get it at 10% discount through thebronconation.com. The "wrap" is MEKMagnet body armor, goes on the aluminum body with a re-usable adhesive.
Illumination is fantastic, but the windnoise (with rack) is noticeable.

Our Integrated Windshield Roof LED Light bar is a great choice! It's unique design provides a quieter and more aerodynamic installation. This system also features selectable Amber or White clearance lights. You can select to connect these lights to an Aux Switch, Parking Lights, DRL, or simply leave them disconnected if you prefer not to use the additional clearance light feature on your Bronco.

Feel free to DM us if you have any other questions or would like to see special pricing!

I did, yes. Winch and bumper and lights was maybe 200lbs?

I put in the Eibach 2.0 coilovers when I did this as well. It all feels great on the road and the trails.

I was pretty sure that was what you had. Did you have the modular bumper and how much heavier with winch? I want to add to my 2Dr.

So you're not going to use the wire ford left you. It's not thick enough to power any bars. I honestly don't know WHY Ford left such a small wire there as it's useless.

The light bar kits we sell include a wiring harness. Most folks run that along the side of the windshield and use a KC Wire hider to hide the wire. It blends in and unless you LOOK for it, you don't realize it's there.

We've got a few options for you here:

Baja Designs
They have their XL Linkable, which links 8x XL pods together. They also have the straight bars which are their OnX6 and S8. I like the S8. It's a slime line bar and looks better in my opinion.

Shown here with dual lenses (we can change lenses out on request for you prior to shipping otherwise it's a single color lense, clear). You'll also see the wire hider i'm talking about on the side of the windshield.

Diode Dynamics
This is similar to the Baja Designs XL Linkable kit only it's from Diode Dynamics and utilizes their SS5 pods.

Another option is the KC HiLITES Kit. This is that "OLD SCHOOL" "KC look" with the round lights

I don't like wind noise and in my opinion you can light up anything with high quality bumper and a pillar mounted lights. Love the look of windshield mounted lights but can't live with the noise/whistle. Start with bumper and A pillar and then see if you want even more.

I went with a rigid light bar and added a wind defuser. Wired it to the uplifter switches.
