Okay guys, I'm learning that the search function on this site isn't the best (I actually haven't been on a forum in a long time that has a good search function), so I'm not seeing what I'm trying to find.
I'm looking for options for a top-of-the-windshield light bar, and yes, I'm finding lots of options on the good old web. But I like to get LOTS of information on power draw, install difficulty, etc, before I buy anything like that.
I also didn't realize that the AUX switches have different power ratings - good to know! But that's where part of my issue is coming from. For instance, F150LED has a 50" light bar I think, with a complete install package, that has a relay to turn the bar on and off...but the install directions say to use AUX 1, which has a 30amp rating. I find it hard to believe that a relay draws that much power. I could understand if the lights were powered directly through the switch, but it's not - the lights are connected direct to the battery with the relay to close the circuit.
So what I'm looking for is this: What have you guys put up there on yours (prefer bars, they're cheaper, don't stick up as high, and less wiring even though daisy-chaining isn't that difficult but it's exposed)? How did you wire them in to your Aux switches and what switch did you use? How much power draw (amps preferred but I can do the math if need be)? Any issues if you've had them on for a while?
Show me some pics, give me some details, please!
