How long does the leather smell last? (new car scent)

Despite my current and previous Mustangs being equipped with leather seats and purchased new, the new car scent dissipated within a period of less than six months.

In contrast, the BMW 5 series and Ghibli retained their new car scent until they were sold to new owners, which was a span of over two years.

I am curious if this disparity in scent longevity is attributed to the usage of different types of leather by Ford or if there are other contributing factors.
Additionally, I would like to know if your Bronco still has that new car smell.

Huh... didn't realize people actually care about that sorta thing. I mean, I guess I could kind of understand it if it was a luxury vehicle. But an off-road SUV? Kind of surprised.

Suddenly the "New Car Scent" Little Tree makes a lot more sense to me.

I can confirm this product and the leather scent spray smell nothing like the new car lol (source: have both)

New car smell has barely anything to do with leather. It's the degassing of all the plastic parts and adhesives used in the making of the interior.

Once all these parts age and degas the smell goes away.

I have a 15 year old son who can fart with the best of them. The new car smell was wiped out by one of his crop dustings!

The “leather” in the Bronco is so cheap and sparse that you hardly get that new leather smell at all really. It’s only “leather-trimmed” anyway. It smelled like leather until you open the door for the first time
