Bad news about MIC 2.0 quality after a few days

About to hit you with several questions (sorry!): What brand is this top? How hard was installation? Lastly, how do you like it so far? I really want to replace my soft top with this style.

Trek Top directly from Bestop, cheaper that way. Wasn't too bad to install, except I forgot about about cold temps and soft top windows. I haven't had a soft top in a number of years. It is quieter than my MIC, I think I am going to like it. I wanted a dual top option from the start, cause I like having different options.

that 4 dr bestop looks great, I plan on getting the same one after my OBX MIC is received and I have a few Ford Reward credits to put toward it. Did you take any other pics of it yet, would love to see a few more angles.

This thread is such doom and gloom, but still keep coming back to it, 4 dr MIC w a build week of 11/15 (for now). Haven't been able to read all the posts but are there people getting their MIC Bronco's without issues?? any reports of successful MIC 2.0 builds?

It does not, it stops at the cross bar. I prefer it that way so the back view is full and open. The slant back is nice too as it appears in your mirror like everything is open in the back.

Updated photo from this AM. My hands aren't Samsquatch in real life, that's just the zoom level. You can see the fuzzy look on the edge, and that wasn't there when I picked it up 5 days ago. You REALLY have to be looking for it though.

Bad news, folks. This is a MIC 2.0 top built 10/1, delivered 4 days ago.

Top looked excellent at pickup. Did not notice any issues.. 4 days later, I notice I can see the old issue returning. Have not notified Ford yet.

Check your MIC tops CLOSELY on the rearmost panel by the windows. Appears to be pulling apart a bit.

I'll have a lot more photos and any other misc info coming shortly.



There is also slight honeycombing.

Why would they not have a mold in which the plastic goes around the edge (where you do not see the insulation in the middle of the hard top shell)? It looks like they just made a sheet and cut it down they bend it to make the hard top.

WTF, is it really that hard to figure out how to make a hard top? They had a hard top back in the 80s where you could have taken it off if you wanted to remove 13 bolts and pulled a muscle or two removing it from the truck.

Found a couple more issues on mine this week. Can see daylight through the top to right side joint near the front right corner of the clamshell.

Also found this messed up area on the rear inner portion of the right front panel.

Dealer got my Bronco back today to have the top examined by their Ford person. I will keep you folks posted on what they find out. Is it bad that even though they gave me another bronco as a loaner, the fact it isn’t sqauched makes me feel self conscious while driving....

LIST OF EXCUSES THE DEALER WILL GIVE YOU
1. Well your top isn’t nearly as bad as some of the others I’ve seen

2. It is only a $695 addition

3. because it’s molded in color

The fact that these issues are widespread and inconsistent across all tops shows very clearly there is a problem that needs to be resolved on a top by top basis.

It can't whistle without a large enough air leak... it's a feature... and it minimizes Carbon Monoxide concentration from the more than equally leaky exhaust.

yep mine has same issues. dealer has already took pictures and sent to Ford. I am suppose to have something back any day on what they are going to do. to built 9/21

Yes they are replacing my top. When I don’t know other than cosmetic I don’t have any issues no noise no leaks etc.
