@Ford Motor Company I keep hearing about these "customer service" gifts people keep getting and would like to know where mine is? I haven't seen anything. Zero. Bad batch FE build and yet to see any sort of swag.

Skeptical here. Any reason I shouldn't be?
I think things are bit different then June/July. We know Ford is changing the molds/tooling to address what is causing the issues. I guess if that completely fails then I guess we all move on.

As of this morning, my bronco is not built yet, but I will be put in the bad batch when it’s built later today.

I think we need to collectively get ahead of this now!

MAP/Ford/Webasto are all still working the problem so there is time between now, and when the corrected MICs start coming in.

In this time we should figure a way to voice our concern about “lot rot” and our preservative that the Group 1 customers currently enjoy (driving) their MIC top broncos are the last ones that should be addressed.

What’s the greatest risk to ford;

a)customers angry about their cosmetically flawed MIC top that’ll eventually be fixed?

b) loosing 1000’s of built trucks when the lot floods or whatever insane “unprecedented” event unfolds next?

Priority should be as follows:

First Priority - Group 2, (build in purgatory)

Second Priority - Group 3, (assigned VINs)

Third Priority - Group 1, (already delivered)

Thanks for coming to my TED talk!
I think they want MICs in the wild out of the public eye ASAP, as it's a PR nightmare. Also, they kept saying it was only cosmetic, but people on here and elsewhere have been talking about leaks, so again, get them out of public view so that info doesn't become more widespread. I get their approach as a business. Not saying as a consumer I would be happy if I was a Bad Batcher with this decision. I'm group three, so I'll twiddle my thumbs with the rest of you!

I'm here to learn. Don't have time to watch the livestream. Care to give us a synopsis? Will be VERY happy to be corrected on anything I posted in this threat.
Ford HAS to get the FE's built. EVERY roof available will fill that need first.
MIC hardtop production for unscheduled First Edition builds will resume late this year with the updated hardtop design. I wouldn't expect this until probably November, as the new tooling still needs to be completed, installed, and tested before production of the new hard tops can begin. Once that happens, they have committed to building new MIC hardtops for all units that have already been delivered, then the "bad batch" Broncos trapped at MAP, THEN for production of new units.

Yah I understand the PR aspect and in terms of safety recall it would make sense that the rush they part to the customer (as customers safety is always paramount) however the unsatisfactory tops in the wild being a PR nightmare argument is weak.
There hundreds if not thousands of people on social media, forums and YouTube currently destroying Ford and from a PR perspective that must be worse than TFL complaining about their MIC top.
I’d also wager that if you compared phone calls/emails dealerships and Ford customer service are fielding, the majority would lean towards people wanting to know when their bronco is coming vs people upset that there are minor flaws on the MIC roof.

I’m group 2 and clearly biased towards my own situation being resolved! That said group 1 can wait and enjoy their broncos, group 3 will unfortunately wait but at lease won’t have a family of mice living in their engine bay!

But group 2’s purgatory it’s literally a construction site! LOL

Unless these sit for a year there is going to be zero issues with them...obviously some freak storm or leaky top aside. New vehicles almost always site for 3-9 month to begin with!

I agree, that’s why I started a petition, not many signatures though :-(.

Really helpful to read the actual letter and/or listen to the livestream from yesterday, because a lot of the stress in this thread is misplaced. Per both:

- The Broncos built and waiting at MAP will get the new roofs first, then be shipped out in the order in which they were built. So 6/29 -6/30 Broncos seem like they'll get the very first roofs and be shipped out accordingly. That sounds like it'll start in late September and run through October. They specially said on the livestream that they cannot start producing new units until the backlog is clear.

-Once the Broncos in MAP are taken care, they're going to start sending replacement kits to already delivered Broncos. That's expected to start in October.

- Simultaneously with the delivery of replacement kits, they're going to start producing new Broncos with hardtops, subject to other constraints, for people with currently assigned VINs and build dates. I don't think they can focus JUST on FEs during that run, as, again, they'll be subject to build constraints. Once Webasto is up and running and sending several hundred roofs a day, they're not going to NOT build a base or a big bend if they have the parts for those and not all the parts for the FE.

- They will not send the MICs currently waiting because they don't want incur the cost of shipping them all out, and it will likely be faster to withhold the Broncos and then ship them with the new roofs than it would be to ship the bad roofs and replace them with new roofs. There's also (unstated) questions of legal liability (both to customers and Webasto) if they knowingly send out roofs to people that they have admitted are defective. Speaking as a lawyer, I would be just WAITING for a car accident if they sent those out.

- Many, many people on this site in the industry have stated that "lot rot" isn't a thing, and I imagine the process by which they'll install the roof will also require additional checks. Ford has indicated they have a plan for storage like every other car. I don't relish the idea of this car sitting out in the Michigan winter, but I have to imagine that they would prioritize manufacturing of a replacement if it was damaged so bad that they didn't feel like they could sell it to me.

For the last 6 weeks, we've been jumping up and down about how this would be so much better if we "just knew what was happening" or "just knew the plan". NOW WE KNOW. THIS IS THE PLAN. It's not ideal, but it's a plan, and ultimately, once we've had these things for a year, I think we'll all probably agree that waiting a few extra months for a good product wasn't all that bad.

Which soft top did you order?
Badlands. I went back and forth between the Badlands and the Wildtrak for a couple months before settling on Wildtrak. If it had gone the other way I would have my truck by now.

Let’s see which one I get first.

only thing I need to correct is that the delivered Broncos will get the first tops, THEN the ones sitting at MAP, THEN they will build the remaining FE’s.
