I’m not saying they scrap them. If there’s tops left over from the 12000 Webasto is building then maybe they ship some out, but if they have no good replacement tops then I don’t see them shipping anything until the new supplier is ready.
Serious question - why would they continue to build cars requiring those roofs if they weren't sure how many were usable? It seems silly to even continue building 2drs at this point if they're thinking they might have to mothball them altogether and build all new ones in 6 months.

I have a build date in the week of 8-9 for my FE. Noticed the window sticker was made available over this past weekend. I am still anxiously waiting for the notification that the vehicle is being built, but I am prepared mentally to get bad news. I have been without a car for the past 6 months, but it's all worth it regardless of the ups and downs. I hope everyone will soon take their delivery!

Ross, do you know what the other problem widgets are and can you tell us?

Thank you again.
Considering the number of 2drs sitting out there, I have to imagine its something specific to those cars. Other than the MIC top, are there any drivetrain or other parts that are specific to the 2drs?

It would seem to me that it's in Ford's best interest to work with Webasto on the quality problems. You can't just turn suppliers on a dime (at least not at the quantity that would be required). An outright dumping of Webasto creates multiple problems - 1) Webasto has no incentive to help, 2) A new supplier has to come up to speed (will their quality be better, can they achieve the needed scale, etc.), and 3) Customers selected the Webasto top on their orders - I doubt you could just make a switch and not give a customer some options.
I don't think they are turning "on a dime"....this potential firing has been a long time coming, including a plant takeover to try to fix it. They've already lost the panited hard top contract...and the other two tops are just one more step. Painful...but less painful then continuing to double down on a failing supplier.

Exactly.. Webasto is done. They produce both so until they sort out another supplier there will be no significant deliveries
So basically it's possible the soft top supply, even if having no or few issues, is impacted by cutting ties with Webasto over the hardtop issues. As a result, there could be no tops available regardless of hard/soft tops. And in addition, there may or may not be some other key issues, that have caused delay and holding vehicles from delivery.

6-8 weeks to delivery. Here's why I personally would love an ETA. That means a week before the earliest delivery date I need to (these are examples) Get insurance quotes, financing quotes, move money around, etc. Not plan a vacation so I can be around to pick it up, do I need to extend my lease that ends in 9 months (even though I reserved a year ago) etc. I get plans are useless but planning is indispensable. I disagree with you most of us would love to have a rough estimate. Not asking for pinpoint accuracy. Just shot gun blast a quarter delivery window. If they're afraid people are going to leave, good let them leave, helps the rest of us. But how many reservation holders has ford already lost because of lack of communication? Ford hasn't gone broke because of them. This process is just stupid at this point. Ya ya ya Rona I get it. But has Rona caused everyone at ford to lose their fingers too? Nobody can send a substantial email more than stay pumped? C'mon.
Unless you digging up cans in the back yard, everything but planning a vacation can be done In 2 days.

I'm a 4 door BaseSquatch. There was a post floating around that had "Bad" Written on the tire (35") as well as "Bad Top"......I know virgin/Natural Rubber is an issue. Geez I hope that isn't an issue as well.

the purgatory units are...just stuck waiting on solution(s).
Thanks for the info....this is pretty brutal news for 3-5,000 of us, Its basically saying that replacement MIC tops are required. And that these replacements will be second-fiddle to the FEs being scheduled.

Meanwhile, these Broncos are stored in a sand & gravel pit.

Side note - You're from Australia ? - or maybe Kiwi ?

Firing Webasto would be good IMO. First eliminate problem source - then figure new plan -
First put out the fire - eliminate the fire-hose of problems -

Ya. Except life gets in the way. Things like work, kids, etc. I've been saying I'll knock things off my to-do list but haven't got to because I have to Google and read this forum to find out what's going on with my bronco because ford refuses to communicate

They aren’t holding you hostage, when the thing shows up do what you need to do and make them wait while you do it. You making this more difficult than it actually is.

LOTS of discussion here, and some of the options being brought up jive with *possibilities* being considered. AFAIK, there isn't a firm decision one way or another. All FEs will be built out in MY21 (and honestly those still awaiting a VIN and scheduling shouldn't be waiting too much longer). Some more MIC MY21s are probably going to be built, but I doubt we'll see them any appreciable numbers.

The main thing to watch is scheduling both this week and next (assuming they both end up happening as scheduled). How many members here will see their non-FE MIC units scheduled? If we see many (any?), that's a decent sign. I don't think we will.

Another kick in the sack is that from everything I've been told none of the purgatory units are awaiting any type of inspection any longer. They're just stuck waiting on solution(s).

I've caught wind of several alternatives being considered... some more drastic than others.

Quick note here to say THANK YOU! You guys contributed almost $500 since yesterday to help offset the looming $2,400 freight bill. We have some local businesses here who are interested in stepping up to help as well. If anyone else would like to contribute, we could definitely still use it.

Y'all are amazing.
Thanks for the info.

I feel like the logical thing to do is, if it's a roof issue, ship them out as is and set up the recall when new/replacement roofs come available. Or, put soft-tops on all of them and ship out replacement tops for MIC reservation holders. Just quit sitting on thousands of units. I know it's easier said than done. But, I think a lot of people are growing impatient. Ford has to know that. I'm sure Levine will be glad when he's not getting @'d all the time on twitter as well. haha

I say send mine out as is, do a warranty on it. I was going to buy the after market soft top anyway. It's been a few days shy of two freaking months now for God's sake!
