Reading comprehension not your strong suit??? Go back and read what I wrote that you quoted….I’ll wait. And anyone that ordered a Bronco and didn’t sign a price agreement is a damn fool and deserves to get their Bronco sold out from under them.
Perhaps you have not noticed, what used to be common knowledge is not known by many anymore.

Perhaps you can choose to help forum members become more knowledgeable about the buying process instead of being a jerk belittling them, the choice is yours.

Don’t you have credit unions in Canada??? Is it just me or does 5.99% interest sound like highway robbery?!
Sounds just like highway robbery. I had better interest rates when my credit score was in the 600’s and I was in my early 20’s

Nope, it is robbery. I'll shop it around when the time comes, but my PA was written up with whatever B&P showed for interest. Some of the bigger banks work with dealers to provide better rates than what you'd get going thru a bank yourself. We do have credit unions, yes..
Lol

I would have requested another test drive then totalled it. 100% serious.
Now that will be worth the inconvenience the time spent needless to say whatever deductible you have to pay to your insurance and increased insurance rates actually with you on this whole plan

I can't point to the buyer being naive as the problem. I have been around the block a time or two and I easily could have fell victim to this. I reserved, picked my local dealer and then waited a couple of months. I decided to start researching what was going on with the Bronco and found Bronco6g. If I didn't I would not have known that I could switch dealers and there were price differences. I saw where Stephens was offering invoice -$1000 and decided to call my dealer for pricing. Bronco guy? said if they ever get one on their lot that no way would you get it for MSRP. I told them about the Stephens deal and basically was told no one would ever do that. I pressed telling him that this isn't your Bronco. Im ordering it through you. He talked to sales manager and was told MSRP. Okay I can respect that. I called other dealers in the area and none would commit to pricing. I went with Stephens. 3.5 hour drive each way is saving me about $3000.

If I had not been on Bronco6g I would be paying MSRP. I would not know shit about the process. I think members here look at everything differently because of the wealth of information provided. We may not all be edumacated but we are informed. This person obviously was not well informed.

If I would have stuck with my local dealer I would have trusted them selling at MSRP when it arrived. I wouldn't have thought to get it in writing. I have been a police officer for 25 years. I have been lied to almost daily for 25 years yet I still will always trust people. I never became cynical about people and always give them the benefit of the doubt. Naive? No, not really. I just would rather trust and get screwed than question everything and everybody.

This 20 something woman could easily have been this 52 year old cop. Shame on the dealer. I don't know if they had a verbal. I would have trusted my dealer saying MSRP back in October 2020.

This implied MSRP agreement price thing. That's problematic.

When I bought my new car last year, there was no implied anything. There was no set price. I walked in, negotiated (for several hours), arrived at a price and we signed a document with that price. Yeah, at that point, that was THE PRICE. No if/ands/buts about it.

And the many times as a kid I watched my dad order a vehicle, there was no implied price thing. He negotiated, back and forth, and finally my dad and the sales person agreed on a price, put it in writing, and months later my dad picked up the vehicle at that price. We didn't walk out of the dealership after placing an order, saying well the implied price when we pick it up should be ...

Has lust for a material item (the Bronco) caused so many folks to lose their minds when making this high dollar purchase?! This whole thing jumped the shark back when people started reserving a vehicle they hadn't even operated much less seen in person, that was months away from even being a thing.

It's unfortunate Ford didn't have a more traditional vehicle launch. That would have avoided some of this nonsense.
A traditional launch and we'd all be paying $5k ADM like they did on Gladiators and every other big launch. That would have made situations like this MORE common. Everyone shits on the reservation system here, but deals like Granger, Stephenson, etc. wouldn't have been possible without it.

The dealer model sucks and makes car buying more expensive, don't make their arguments for them.

"Once the customer decided on a dealership, as with any other vehicle purchase, the customer would need to negotiate and settle on a price. That's like THE key thing a customer does when buying a car."

I have seen this statement several times in this thread and others. Did Ford change the way they went about the reservation process at some point? I was a late reservation (June 21). When I paid the $100 reservation fee, Ford assigned me a dealer. I did not get to choose which dealer I wanted to buy from.

On the subject of this thread, The dealership may be able to get away with this (I know others disagree), but it's awful. Karma is a bitch. I hope the dealership reaps what they have sown.

I chose my dealer. A real shitty one is 5 mins from me couldn’t guarantee no adm. I chose one 40 mins away who treats me right.

Pretty crappy of the dealership, no doubt. That being said, she should have had an agreement in writing before placing her order.

Not a chance I would commit to a $50K+ purchase without a deal in writing. Whether it's for a car, house, anything.
Really 🙈. She in her 20’s she should know everything ,so you say. Come on give her a break. If your going to slap someone it should be the dealer.

STOP defending the dealer people, holy shit. Not everyone is aware of the practices dealers will pull to rip people off. She’s clearly young and clearly ignorant to the fact this could happen. It is NOT HER FAULT that she wasn’t aware she needed to do this, she likely assumed like many other people the price on the invoice was her price, as it should have been. Blaming her ignorance is excusing the dealer, fuck them.

As for your house analogy…you offer a price and they accept or deny and you’re in agreement, it doesn’t change until you get the house. Unless they decide they can get more money in which they have to pay fees. She ordered a car and was given an invoice which she signed that had a price on it. Legal document or not, she expected that was her price. She had to wait 6 months to find out she was going to get fucked over and her only recourse is, “ha! You should have known better.”

Fuck that shit.

Not once in my post did I defend the dealer. I stated that what the dealer did was crappy.

I'm not placing blame on anyone since I don't know the entire story. Once the full story comes out, I'll point more fingers.

Dealers like this is why it's so important to have a deal in writing before placing an order. It's very simple. I reserved a Bronco. I emailed the dealer and agreed to a price, in writing, with signatures, before I placed my order. Why? Because I wanted to know the exact price of my Bronco before I placed an order. And if I wasn't happy with the price from my current dealer, I could have shopped around anywhere for a dealer for a better price and then transfer my reservation to that dealer.

You were able to choose your dealer at time of reservation. The website tries hard to select your local dealer, but it’s editable.

Additionally, Ford told reservation holders to negotiate and agree on the price before placing the actual order… of course, this was still during the time before order banks were open and one could transfer their reservation to a different dealer… but I’m sure Ford’s recommendation hasn’t changed on this. Since the banks are open there’s no waiting, you can just go straight to the dealer of your choice and order right away.

Just to make sure, it just checked… still able to select your dealer:
