I've been asking everybody...
What does the Adv 4x4 really give me with the 7spdMT?
Better crawl ratio and on demand 4x4. For an $800 upgrade it’s worth it to me.

Yep. I’ve been reading more after I started considering the 2.3L and found a sas bunch of useful posts. Heck if I like driving the 2.3L I might end up with a non Sas BD with the 2.3L as well. I’m open to that possibility for sure.
I’m sure I would be thrilled with the 2.7, especially knowing how simple it is to get close to 400hp/500tq out of it.
With the FP tune on the 2.3 (which I’m probably ordering when it’s available) the 2.3/7mt will be plenty capable at around 350hp/360tq, which are better numbers than any Jeep. Hell, in stock form it’s got better numbers than Jeep. Should be more than capable.

Has anybody here been reading this other thread? He seems really unhappy with the number of rocks the General Grabbers are picking up in his gravel driveway...

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...-on-my-black-diamond-bronco.19068/post-686327

Living in Arizona, all my tires get rocks in them (and all my windshields🤣🤣). Is this some bigger issue I don't understand? Why don't you just have a stick or something to pick them out once in a while?

I didn't want to sound like a snarky ass, so I didn't comment over there. But since this thread is a bunch of future General Grabber owners, I thought y'all could add some thoughts for me.

Most of my use will be on pavement unfortunately, so while I have them when I go on gravel roads I'll just pick them out after I get back to pavement. I'll keep them until they wear out, then put a different tire on my BD.

edit: I also have a 5 and 3 year old that would love to pick the rocks out of the tires, so I have that advantage too. 😂

Ok. So I can see wanting the better crawl ratio if we're planning on rock crawling, but what specifically would "on demand" 4x4 do for me?

You drive in snow or slippery conditions? Using 4A instead of 4H gives traction when needed instead of being engaged full time.

What does the Adv 4x4 really give me with the 7spdMT?

It's a lot of extra money that doesn't fit in my original budget. I don't drive in snow and ice, and most of where I will drive off-road I was able to do with a 2wd Dakota (although I was really wishing for a rear locker a few times). I am 99% sure I don't need it, but I just need to hear why people are getting it to make sure I am not missing something crucial.
If you don't get ice or snow, or anything else that gives you traction constantly varying from good to slippery, you don't need it. The benefits are crawl ratio and being able to leave it in 4 Auto when you have a mix of clean and snowy/icy roads.

you’re going to get that to some extent on all A/T tires, I don’t care what certain people say. Only way you’re going to avoid that is an all season tire, like the obx or bb have. Just like what trim you choose, it’s all about trade offs and what’s important for your particular wants/needs.

The Generals will be removed from my Bronco before I ever drive it. 255/80/17 Toyos until I upgrade suspension.

I’ll run the Grabbers until they wear out and then probably replace with BFG in same size.

I was planning on running mine until they wear out, too. But I am keeping an eye on comments people make if they switch to 33s, since I may want to do 33s for my second set.🤔
