They've already confirmed prices are locked for MY21 and MY22 if you have an order placed.
True, price protection in place for those of us who placed the order by the March 19th cutoff. But does anyone really think Webasto is going to have their crap together next year and be able to manufacture not only the MIC tops but the painted Hard tops in multiple colors? I have serious doubts. My hope is that Ford already has a contingency plan in place for just such an emergency. So my real question is will they honor MY21 pricing for MY 23 and beyond if no contingency plan exists? For me, I am waiting for black painted top and will not budge. If they say later they cannot produce painted top then I guess I will just cancel my order all together and find some other vehicle to buy.

the most frustrating thing....
Things to add to your list:

  • Ford has just about killed all the joy of getting a Bronco - if, in fact, you win the lottery & get one
  • You can't believe Anything you read: such as Ford saying if you didn't receive a bump-email by Friday, your build remains on schedule
  • Supposedly (from forum post) Webasto is cranking out 20-30 MIC tops/day. Have fun with that Ford. So...'priority' builds + FEs might just run out the clock all summer

yeah...the quote was only mine - but probably accurate

I'm assuming folks have definitive proof that soft top units won't have plumbing for the rear wiper.

Because when I saw one in person on Wednesday, there was plumbing in the back for the wiper. I even asked what it was and was told specifically it was there to accommodate the hard top, even though the bronco I was inspecting was soft top.

I guess it could be pre-production and not what will available, just wanted to make sure people weren't hyperventilating over assumptions...

Uh oh. Now you’re gonna get people questioning whether it’s true and whether to change their orders from hard to soft top.

I have 4door BD, 2.7 mid, MIC with tow. Late day 1 reg.

If the MIC and two are really gonna keep me from getting my Bronco before Labor Day, I'm seriously thinking about switching to the soft top and taking off the tow, and then immediately ordering a green '22 with a white top (what I prefer) and then trading in my '21 for the '22. This is my first ever brand new, from the dealer automobile, and I kinda hate that I'll have my '21 for only, at this point, mere weeks of the year 2021.

I guess, of course I'd lose trade in value. I could probably sell it for close to what I paid or even more.

Gonna think about this. May be a bad idea. May be a great idea.

Yea, this was the case in Charlotte NC on Thursday and Friday (the rapid red outer banks).. That soft top had the wiring. But the rep-girl made clear this was not normal and was only for this display. She said if you want wiring order the hard top "first".

Yup. Is that your quote or someone elses quote?

the most frustrating thing is that those with Day 1/2 reservation felt safe and would not be hit with supply chain issues. I always viewed being 2+ months out as being a really bad situation. And between demo builds and prioirity builds most of those loaded Day 1/2 reservations were pushed out just enough to land in that shit storm I had imagined. Everything we are seeing unfold in real time was exactly what I thought was going to happen, and were pushed out enough to now be caught up in it.

sounds like the flood gates are opening and super late soft tops will be taken into account.

And didn’t they say FEs would be 2021? Meaning they need to reserve whatever hard tops they do get to try to guaranty those FEs are built?

Im sensing that guys with Day 1/2 reservations with loaded builds (but not an FE) such as myself, are going to be much later in the year, and if they booked at a smaller dealer with less allocations, could find themselves off the list entirely for 2021.

If demos and priority builds weren’t front loaded this could have been avoided. Very frustrating.

heres an example...my example...

I’m a day 1 reservation. Loaded sas OBX. allocation #2. Dealer has 39 allocations across 152 orders. Last I checked they had 11 builds assigned (could be more by now). 28 allocations to go. If there’s 20 simpler soft tops in the original 152 orders and they all get assigned in the next week or so, now the dealer has 31 allocations filled with only 8 left. Another week goes by and a few FEs are assigned, and well, thats it...I was sitting pretty from the onset, but there’s certainly a decent probability that I don’t get this bronco in 2021. Even a Day 1, allocation #2 may not save me.
I was thinking along the same lines. As Ford goes down the line building the majority with soft tops, the allocations fill up - is it conceivable that folks holding reservations in the first hour or two of reveal get passed over in MY21?

The simple fact you replied then said you were not an apologist then proceeded to do so says enough. Go ahead and own it.

And I’ve got a grip bud. I’m just fine. I didn’t use a single exclamation point making my point and directed my comment at no one person. You however, did.

Enjoy your weekend!!!!!!
Disagreeing = I'm labeled a Ford apologist. Right, got it.

I'm sorry I used an exclamation point ;-)

I have a Badlands two door with 2.7 engine, MIC top, Sasquatch, and tow package ordered. I’ll see mine in 2030.
Great minds, 2dr Badlands, 2.7 ,MIC,Sasquatch Carbon Grey. If they give you Lemons wait a year and get the Warthog.

Yup. It could happen. I’m really hoping it won’t.

But we shouldn’t be in this position...the main reason we are is because ford is assigning demos and priority orders first... Whether it was the soft top being an issue or something else, we knew something inevitable would be an issue a couple months out when shallow supply bins ran dry. This was my point earlier. I knew something like this would happen, and was hoping Day 1/2 guys would have orders assigned before supply chains started unraveling. But the priority orders and demos pushed us into this tornado.

Wow. So let’s play this out. I am over estimating here but let’s assume they make:
  • May 30/day and let’s be generous at 24 days production in a month = 720
  • June 40/day x 24 days = 960
  • July 75/day x 24 days = 1800
  • August 100 /day x 24 days = 2400
  • September 125/day x 24 days = 3000
  • October 200 / day x 24 days = 4800
  • November 300 / day x 20 days = 6000
    • (And remember, Ford is trying to make 600 Broncos a day staring in August)
So, the TOTAL MIC tops produced for MY 2021 could only be 19,680.

And so if Ford was shooting to produce 60k-ish MY21s then only 1/3 will get MIC tops. And, after taking out FEs and Priority orders, that leaves very little (only about 10k) of non FEs to get a MIC top In MY21. And if you do get one, its going to be a long wait. Ugh

I thought someone was talking about a certain number of units per shift, is it 300 per shift for a total of 600 a day or 600 a shift for 1,200 a day?
