I don’t want a brand new car “fixed” which will always be janky and not right and vastly lose value because of this. I want a new car.
Hate to break it to you but that car is easily fixable I know it sucks balls but that’s how it works only Way vehicles are usually totaled is severe flood damage or frame on vehicle is bent once fixed if you guys still don’t want it trade it in but you going to take a huge hit find the best body shop you can and if done wright no one will ever know there was any damage good news is it won’t effect how the vehicle drives or runs

If it's anything like the hail storms in CO, the insurance company is going to do whatever they can to fix it...I never heard of anyone getting a brand new car totaled from hail...but maybe? If they fix it you can ask for diminished value on top of it. That you can negotiate, I just wouldn't go in asking for a brand new car. Keep your expectations low is all. I don't know if gap is going to play a role either if you financed a chunk of it...either way crappy situation, sorry bud.
100% financed, bought in September. So I’ll be making payments another 6.5 years on this piece of shit to pay off the price of a “new” car. Fuck this.

Now this will depend on your insurance, and I don't know if this will work for you, but my mother in law had a similar situation. New F150 limited (~$70k) hit a deer, insurance wouldn't total it. However she did manage to negotiate with her insurer for additional money for the extra depreciated value of the vehicle. After it was "fixed" she traded it in on a new one. Still came out a couple thousand lighter, but it's better than the alternatives I think.

Why is your vehicle a peice of shit all the sudden it’s really not that bad you won’t be able to tell once it’s fixed make sure you get more than one estimate from body shops be proactive and start going to some shops to get estimates like I said get it fixed trade it in but you will take a hit

Windshield is $1500 itself on the Telluride, heard the gulf coast got 3-4” hail yesterday. Sorry to hear, got caught in my wife’s 1.5 year old Subaru a couple weeks ago and was freaked, but didn’t see any damage luckily.

Here’s the bad news for you, chances are you are not going to get this totaled. Threshold is 70% of the car value in MS, guessing your Telluride is still worth 40K+ so unless it’s basically 30K damage you will have 2 options, get it fixed or take the check, sell the vehicle as is somewhere and go to replace it.

While others are talking diminished value claims, those are usually only applicable when it’s collision and not your fault. Hail and “acts of God” are usually excluded.

My friends 2018 Subaru Outback got damaged like that by hail last year. Insurance company wrote a check and they went out and bought a 2020. In CO hail storms are so bad they set up multiple claims sites in large parking lots to deal with it.

They are 6 hours from home. More rain coming before they return tomorrow. Adjuster has not called me at all since I filed claim online 1.5 hours ago.

Telluride S. Correction: Not sure why I said 100% financed, because that doesn’t account for old Tahoe we traded in that was worth several thousand. Financed $31,274. Owe $29,118. Still will be making payments for a long, long time.

Yeah, I've done the diminished value route and your are correct, your insurance company will not pay you diminished value for your vehicle if it was not damaged by another insured person.

While you're waiting for the insurance, if at all possible, get a heater, fan and dehumidifier, all three if possible, in the car and leave them on until it goes in for repair. Have the fan blow towards the wettest sections of carpet and seats. The more moisture you can get out the less chance of mold and damage you will have.

It would be worth it to buy a high volume air blower:

Makes me just sick. She has taken such pride in that car and keeps it pristine. Won’t even ride with windows down out of fear of losing new-car smell. It’s the first brand-new car she has ever had, at age 45.

It is in a hotel parking lot and not driveable to anywhere this could happen.
