It boils down to if you think there is such a thing as too much. To me 35's are too much, 33's are just right. To me 4.70's are too much 4.46's are just right.... and sway bar disco is a nice bonus. Mid vs High is totally personal, I'm one of the few not getting any package. So my vote is non Sas Badlands.

pretty sure most went through this same scenario, I was comparing a BD sas build to a BL base and just decided you get more with the BL base then you do a BD sas period. The price difference was too close.

My vote is BL. I see only two positives for the BD:
  1. Stock 35s out of the gate are critical.
  2. 4.7 (Sas auto ratio) is really important over 4.46 (BL auto ratio)
Otherwise, I think the BL with 33s and swaybar disconnect is a better value in my opinion.

If you need sway disconnect or high package or better get BL. If not, looks wise the BD is by far the better of the two. Everyone is going to have a mall crawler BL. Everyone.

I went BD with Sasquatch but did look at Badlands. I made my choice because the four door just doesn't look right with anything less than 35s. The stock Badlands would have looked "okay" and I will miss not having the larger screen. I also don't like the Badlands grille, headlights and accent trim color on the interior.

If I could have just got that damn 12 inch screen separately of a package I would have paid $600 for it without thought.

I believe unless you are into serious off-roading, most people are going to be happier in the long run with 33s and a higher trim.

Every time I look at Sasquatch I think I want it - then I think about how I'm going to use it, the cost of 35" tires, the change in ride quality and mileage, and even the reality of parking a squatched vehicle in front of my office and picking up a client in it and I go right back to the non-squatched BL as PLENTY of vehicle for me.

I can do 98% of what they show vehicles with 35s doing, and 100% of what I want to do on the weekends, and still have a decent looking and performing vehicle for on-road needs.

The Bad Lands with an AUTO nets you 4.46:1 gears. Bad Lands with Manual gets the 4.7:1 gears. Black Diamond Sasquatch (auto) gets 4.7:1 gears.
Those 4.7:1 gears would be worth more then every penny. My 2 cents.

Also, Sway Bar disconnect is really cool and useful off-road. How often will you be hitting Moab and other trails to rock climb your Bronco? I off-road my Tundra alot, and it takes a toll on the body ;)

Since I'm a 2022, I think what you are saying is I should get a manual badlands with sasquatch, right?

RIGHT?

I'm interested in some dispassionate opinions regarding this. I'm not really comparing apples to oranges here, more like oranges to tangerines.

2 door Black Diamond, 2.7L auto, mid package, roof rails, tow, mod top and Sasquatch.

vs.

2 door Badlands, 2.7L auto, roof rails, tow, High package and MIC top.

Comparing these two vehicles, the invoice price difference is $237.
First off, I’ll mention that my current build (ordered, but ‘22 because of Mod) is a non-sas Badlands w/Mid Package.

when I discovered I was going to be a 2022, I started thinking about where I pinched myself, such as tow package, Roof Rack, and High Package.

I had agonized the idea of a Sas Package and in the end, I was super cool with the Badlands already being that middle ground between the Sas & non-squatched off-roader because of ride quality.

Many on here professed the differences between Mud tires & 35’s and daily driving, especially in the elements and knowing I could upgrade wheels/tires later made the Badlands more appealing.

I’d much rather understand what I have before going all in on something I don’t know. The Badlands is a “Baby-Squatch,” and I’m very cool with that concept. I won’t be going all out with my Bronco for the first 3-4 years, anyway, so this will give me some time to nurture and mature what I hope will be a new hobby for the next stage of my life... my 40’s XD

One HUGE deal is the interior. My 2-Door Badlands being Cyber Orange w/Painted Black Modular Top means the orange accents in the interior (including the door) will tie everything together like a work of art.

Can’t wait for 2022!

Love the discussion. I reserved the badlands, but ultimately ordered the BD Sasquatch. I had to weigh the options, and would’ve liked the premium B&O and sway bar disconnect. The increased price didn’t quite outweigh the value. I was totally evaluating and thinking like an ecomomist. Would the increase in satisfaction be worth the increased cost? Also, I could have added the gearing, lift, rims, and tires at a later point but there is a huge benefit of getting all of this stuff through the manufacture. Modified vehicles just don’t have the same efficiency that a manufacturer produces.

I'm sure there is a question somewhere in the original post.

Sorry, let me correct. Is there a question in the original post?

The OP should be a good forum member and update the OP to reflect that......

Anyway, a guess of the topic which is alluded to vaguely: Both of your builds are loaded to the gills with high-cost options (2.7, auto, high pack, mod top, sasquatch), so about the only difference left is the color of the interior. and what came with the package.

Sounds very subjective/personal what you like since the hardware will be so similar. Just do what you want.

Honestly, I'd go the even cheaper route and just get the BD without squatch, but everything else. It'd be slightly less capable than a stock badlands, but still a nice rig.

All comes down to personal preference. I liked the BD grille and MGV seats better with VB, If I had gone CO I probably would have gone BL. Just hated the orange accents on a VB. I wanted 35"s regardless of vehicle so my build was like 3k less. I plan to use that to upgrade the stereo to something really awesome while preserving stock head unit. I had to be honest with myself, living on the east coast I'm probably never doing intense rock crawling. Only thing I am worried I will regret is the additional sound deadening and the heated wheel. But I plan to have the top off most of the time so I was willing to forego it. At this point I'm so excited to get it I'd love a Base. I just want to start driving with the top off with my wife and dog., Also I think the 8" touch screen will be perfectly adequate, my life story.

Nope, no question. I listed the two builds and, like it says, I was looking for opinions on the merits of each. I was hoping for a fun, positive discussion about these wonderful vehicles that Ford brought back. How else do you want to spend the next several weeks, listening to us whine about everything that is imperfect about this rollout?

Badlands. Same money, higher trim package, should retain value better, I prefer smaller tires.
AYE!

My build is a Badlands, 2.7, Squatch, high. Every other build with these options was so close in price I just didn't see the point in not spending a little more to go with something other than the Badlands.
AYE!

I went through the same thought process and ended up with the BL. My thinking is I’m going to keep this a while and was willing to pay for more tech (high package). I can always upgrade to bigger wheels down the road.
AYE!

I'd go Badlands.
You already get 33" tires stock (biggest stock tires) + no SAS means one less of the "deadly six" (less chance of a delay)
You get a 12" screen with the High Package
MIC top will get you the truck faster than the MOD top
AND AYE!

Sorry for all the AYE's, just finished binge watching Game of Thrones.

But seriously, even after being at peace with my BL order (placed in February), I occasionally go back to B&P to try and scale back, make something simpler work. The only build that tempts me off of 4Dr High BL is to go all the way back to Base + aftermarket. All other builds get too close to BL. AND I don't like the 35's that come with SAS.
