I know others have said it but your dealer should know where you are in line and the allotments. They either know and won't tell you or they are clueless. Every dealer has been given this information. Reservation time stamp matters. I'll give you my example. I am at Stephens Auto Center. They had around 330 reservations. (I do not know if this is total or before September cutoff.). I reserved on July 14 @ 3:57 pm. I am #104 out of there 108 allocations.
I ended up escalating to the GM to try and get ANY more information. They confirmed they have the places in allocation and how many they're getting, but are refusing to give out any information because "they don't want people pissed off when Ford delays everything and you don't get it when you hoped for". I mean, fine, but also, give me the damn number.

Reservation number and date is supposed to be 95% of calculation of when your build will happen based on everything we’ve been told.
You have been told lies. Ford will need to roll out continent wide and honor orders with each dealer in the network. Reservation time stamp is dead last on the list of what gives a build precedence. Commodity availability is first and foremost; there’s no holding up the line with production in full swing.

So here’s a hypothetical for our Canadian friends north.

What if US reservations got priority over your build? You cool with that?

not really, Ford will produce runs of the greatest order amounts of a particular model...if there is a run of 10,000 of the same vehicle and nearly the same specs, that’s what they make first and foremost. They won’t be making small runs of orders and changing setups every other few days. Granted if they somehow run out of 2.7 engines ..that’s obvious. I don’t think any of the first 15,000-20,000 reservations have to worry about shortages regardless of what they order.

You need to take the Ford Rouge tour or just a how it's made on automobiles.

There's no "setup" so to speak. Line worker grabs the part his workstation tells him to, scans it, and bolts it on. A blue base manual could be followed by a cactus squatched 2.7L badlands, followed by 3 Rangers in red white and blue. Makes no difference to the plant or the line worker, assuming the parts are in stock. And they won't schedule the builds if the parts aren't ready, so it should never be an issue.

I am Canadian, and the system works differently here in Canada. Ford Canada is a separate entity, and so just as we didn’t get any First Editions (those are US only) we also don’t have the same reservation system or order bank. We never had the opportunity to switch dealers like you folks did (Ford Canada didn’t allow it) and we closed our 2021 reservation system at a later date than you. Our roll out will look different than yours; although similar... but the point is, Ford isn’t going to slow the build process to build any Bronco according to time stamp. That is crazy, they would wind up building half of the plants capacity constantly switching models. They will build as many Broncos as they can, as fast as they can, so they can get paid for them as fast as they can. That is how business works.

Ya got it. Trust me my friend I’m thrilled our system is different than yours from what I’ve heard of late.

Is it okay if Bronco loving Canadians are put at end of line or no?As a reminder we’re talking about rich Americans line cutting.

That is not how it works at Ford Rouge for the F150s. I’d bet all of the plants work the same way. The assembly line is flexible enough that a Badlands can come down right after an Outer Banks and before a Big Bend. The plants don’t receive a batch of inventory for a specific build and then not again for weeks until it’s that build’s “turn” again. Just-in-time inventory means using up supplies at the same rate they can be replenished.

Well I think that is bullshit. They could send out an email explaining everything regarding time stamp, allocations and where everyone stands in line. Explain it is a Ford thing. You have no idea if you are even going to get a 2021. Don't they think you are already pissed off not knowing? How much more pissed can you be?

Quoted for truth. I’ve been saying this since last summer. If everyone would understand these things were never going to be built by reservation order, there would be a little less crying around here.

This is not anywhere close to how it works. If your really interested, do some research on lean six sigma and just in time inventory, the foundations of how Ford assembly lines run. There is never 15,000-20,000 of ANY part laying around available.

Yeah, I won't be dealing with them again after this. I'm going to get my Bronco services at other dealerships, and all upgrades elsewhere.
