Man, you should've seen my wife's face the day she was riding shotgun and I was smoking a cigarette with my right hand, rolling down the window with my left hand, holding a drink between my legs, talking on my brick Nokia holding it with my shoulder. All while turning left with my knees from a stop...I honestly have never used cup holders my wife always looks at me weird pulling out of a drive thru.![]()
Tell you what, if your dealer kicks you in the shin and you provide proof. I'll buy you a steak dinner at Kirby's.Let me see. I’m 61;years old. Have owned nothing but Ford or Mercury products my entire life. I currently own, a 2009 Mercury Milan, 2006 Mustang GT convertbile, 2011 F150 Crew Lariat, 2014 Focus, 2018 Mustang GT, and a 1970 Mach 1, which I have owned since I was 18. When Ford built the GT super car, they had a priority list, that required the potential buyer to meet certain standards. Loyal customer, promise not to sell the car for two years, and the cash for the $400K price tag. I was two out of three for that vehicle , and now they have some “super secret special” list for loyal customers, and I once again fail to make the cut. Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that on the day in 2022 when I arrive at the dealer to pick up my Bronco, the salesman is going to haul off and kick me right in the shin with his pointed cowboy boot as he hands me the keys? Lol
Maybe you promised/threatened to trade in the Milan and that got you taken off the list for the GT. My condolences.Let me see. I’m 61;years old. As your unofficial therapist there is so much to unpack with this post...I have clammed up since my previous ranting Declaration of Impatience, but this chaps my ass. As I predicted previously, even though I reserved a Base on day one, which I would wager is the only Base ordered in Oxford, MS, and logically ought to be one of the first delivered here, some rich frat boy from out of state who has never had a job will somehow show up in a fully loaded Badlands with 70-inch tires and wheels from NASA before I get mine because his diddy is rich and connected in Dallas or Atlanta.
I know that’s the way of the world, but it’s annoying. They’ll be peacocking around in it while I’m begging Gamecock for a seat in his 4-door.
Sidenote: Almost chose Oxford White over AMB when I did my reservation, but just about every lifted 4-door Wrangler here is a white one, driven by a sorority girl.
Edit to add: Those who did not make a reservation on day 1 and were facing not getting a Bronco until next year, but we’re given a “priority” and now are getting one ahead of those of us who made immediate reservations, please don’t post about it here. I’m not going to start insulting folks, but do us all a favor and keep it to yourself.
The only entity I will insult is Ford for doing it.
We have bought many cars from the dealer here in the last 30 years, including my current one, and I still can’t even get the sales manager to call me back to answer a question or two. They never even contacted me in January about converting my order. I wasn’t on this. Owed then, so I didn’t even know I could do so until Ford sent me a last-minute email on March 15.
I envy customers whose orders are with some of the dealers who post here and who are clearly engaged, enthusiastic, and helpful.
I could bring it up with my official therapist this Friday morning, but I doubt he is trained to understand my Bronco fetish and mania. And strangely many folks do not understand reservations and time stamps and think it crazy to honor them.As your unofficial therapist there is so much to unpack with this post...
I dunno, I'm thinking loyal customers in this case are more the guy that has a ranch or construction company or similar whose family has been doing fleet sales with the same dealer for 20+ years and he (or her) and all their family buy their personal vehicles from the same dealer. Or even just somebody that's been a regular personal customer over the years and has established a relationship with the dealership. Honestly Ford bending to the will of the "Big" dealers that put up a stink over the initial reservation method that ended up resulting in the modified allocation based system have WAY more impact over when the rest of us "little people" get our Bronco's than a relative smattering of units being given to preferred buyers ever will. I personally don't have any issue with this and, given where I know my reservations/orders are in the queue and what my options are, it's not going to have any measurable impact upon my delivery dates.I’ll guess I’ll be the one to say it...
This is bullshit. Award loyal customers? Like the ones who have been waiting since last summer while Ford pissed down it’s leg with this rollout? Just another way for big dealers to get more Broncos for whoever they want.
I say let them post. Why should we diminish their joy and excitement just because something outside of our control happened?Edit to add: Those who did not make a reservation on day 1 and were facing not getting a Bronco until next year, but we’re given a “priority” and now are getting one ahead of those of us who made immediate reservations, please don’t post about it here. That only gives you 2 years to enjoy it before the Y2038 problem wipes out all life as we know it . . . so enjoy!Long as I get my Bronco by 2036.
I’d have thought that the ranch and construction barons also had internet access on 1/13 and probably even more ability to part with $100 at a moment’s notice than some of us, but maybe I’m wrong.I dunno, I'm thinking loyal customers in this case are more the guy that has a ranch or construction company or similar whose family has been doing fleet sales with the same dealer for 20+ years and he (or her) and all their family buy their personal vehicles from the same dealer.
