That is true, if you only look at HP it is a bad deal, but they are fundamentally different engines and HP is only a fraction of the story. The 2.7 has 100 more torque and a different shaped power curve that will provide more power at lower RPMs. In addition, the twin turbo setup on the 2.7 should "Theoretically" reduce turbo lag. Throttle response is always one of my biggest complaints with a car. When I push the pedal, I want it to go, so hopefully the 2.7 will be better than the 2.3 in this regard.2.3L with auto is my preferred build. After reading multiple reviews of the 2.3L's performance, its apparent that it's nothing to sneeze at. In addition, the 2.7L is only 40hp stronger. At $1895 premium for the 2.7L, that's $47 per HP. However, the real deal breaker for me with the 2.7L is it's on the constrained availability list. I sure as hell don't want to delay getting my vehicle by a month or longer just for 40HP. I'll make that up and more in a tune.
Overall, yes, the engine stats are not that different, which is probably why we kept hearing in the KOH videos that you couldn't feel the difference in power (Probably true above 25-30 mph). However, I would be willing to put some money down that they do feel very different starting from a stopped position or accelerating at low speeds. Turbo lag should be more noticeable on the 2.3.
If that doesn't bother you, then you have chosen wisely because 1900 is a steep asking price. Considering this will probably the the only car I custom order in my life and hopefully keep for a very long time, I don't want any regrets. I can swallow 1900 over 5 years for no regrets. I am sure everyone will love whatever engine they choose, I just don't want to be sitting my car every day thinking what if?
