Recently switched from Black Diamond to Badlands so I could get the high package. Opting for the rooftop tent would force me to change to the 2.3L engine. Chose to order the 2.7L and add the rooftop tent later. Will it be difficult to add a rooftop rack with tent after? Are there better rooftop tents than the Yakima factory standard?

You will have no problem adding a rooftop tent after you take delivery.

Ford just just doesn't want to deliver it to you with it because of the well-documented GVWR concerns.

There are as many opinions about the best rooftop tent as there are rooftop tents.

If you want the 2.7, get it... worry about the tent later.

There are tents that weigh less than a hundred lbs and are at a solid price point. I think go for it. Also if you get a MY22+ weight issues should be disappearing

There are dozens of better tents than the Yakima one Ford offers. And yes, you'll be able to easily add a roof top tent later. I'd personally lean towards an aftermarket rack as the factory rack is only rated to 110lbs which eliminates most roof top tents (probably why they went with the Yakima as it's only 95-115 lbs based on the two sizes available).

Sorry for the redundancy, I did try searching prior and I don’t see the option to delete this thread. Very new to all of this; also very eager and excited to learn!!

and Yakima got a head start on everyone by being the primary aftermarket supplier.

Awesome! Thank you!! I did find one thread about different rooftop options and the SuperLite seems possibly pretty appealing.

None of the companies are making a Bronco-specific tent. They all just offer roof top tents.

The Bronco has a weight limit of 150 lbs while driving and 450 lbs while stationary. Try to find a tent, and the mounting, that will be less than 150 lbs. Then use it alone, or find a very small person to use it with. I've figured out that the roof top tent, plus sleeping gear is enough that I can't use it with a second person. In fact, the quality tent I would buy won't work with the Bronco due to weight. Yes, you can find a roof top tent that is less than 150 lbs, but not one I would use.

I've got the 23Zero Breezeway 72 on order. It's a big ole roof top tent (6' x 8' opened) but we need the space. I'm still undecided if I want to do an exoskeleton rack from say Gobi which is rated at 800-900 lbs static or build an off-road trailer.

There are a ton of options out there these days from hard shells to soft shells to fit what you need.
