So lets say my dealer calls I put my order in for OBX but I don't want the painted fenders and mirrors. Can I switch my package to Badlands at the point or can I only make modifications to the OBX? I hate to be picky about the painted fenders and mirrors but hey its going to be my vehicle so why not

Great question- I know some changes can be made up until the vin number is assigned for the build but whether you can completely change models is a question for Ford to answer.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that you can make any customizations to your order until a VIN is assigned to your vehicle. I am not sure if you can completely change the trim of the vehicle.

They have said you should plan on keeping within the trim/wheel door count if you want to make any changes to your order.

So, if you order a 4-door OBX, you'd be able to select or deselect any 4-door OBX options until the cutoff... but you can't change to a BL or something else.

Exactly what you'll be able to change after the initial order is still a little wishy-washy. Dealer's have weighed in with what you can do with other Ford special orders, (such as make changes up until VIN is assigned) but Estaban seemed to imply that he really didn't want any additions to options... only subtractions, and even then, he wasn't so keen on it and made some statements that made it sound like the cutoff might even be before a VIN is assigned.

I'm sure the scheduling and commodity nightmare is what's influencing his statements.

You should be able to change your mind up until your Bronco is scheduled on the assembly line, from what I have understood. But yes, you can definitely change your model when your dealer calls to complete the ordering process. I originally reserved a Big Bend, but have since switched to a Base. What matters is what you order, not what you have reserved.

Just what we can and cannot change/customize is up for speculation tho'. Since B&P is changing in March, is the order book changing as well? No one knows.

Or someone will probably want to swap with you. I for one will be looking for someone that wants Squatch flares for their painted if they don't want them.

Yes and this is what is so frustrating because what if something becomes available on one of the others models that would sway my decision

A dealer in another thread said not to ask for changes after the initial order because it is a pain in the ass for them.

So even if Ford allows it to an extent, it may depend on how willing your dealer is to work with you.

It sounded like the B&P change will only be to add accessories and options that would be installed at the dealer... not at the factory. Whatever comes from the factory will be the same either way, so it's not like you'd be ultimately missing out on anything.

Wait, we can choose how many wheels? (j/k - I know that you meant doors)

I just got off the phone with my dealer. I reserved an OBX. I want to change to a WildTrak. He said if I change the model - OBX to WT then my reservation gets cancelled and I would just enter an order sans reservation and get put in the regular order queue.
