Hello @skyhunter
While it is not a Massachusetts destination, last November @SeptuagenarianSasquatch , @bkirchhoff and I went to Armor Ditch (https://www.armorditch.com) in Ossippe NH -- it's just west of Lake Winnipesaukee. Depending on where you live in MA, it is about a "tankful away".
We had a blast on the trails and spent the day there. We ate tailgate lunches together at the parking lot when a 4th Bronco showed up and recommended some trails to seek and some to avoid. The trails range from easy to difficult (a few that I had to give a hard "no way, not for me").
I have a full calendar for the next 5 weeks, but I would be interested in meeting up at any "tankful away" trails with other Broncos (and even Wranglers) in late September and October.

For me a day trip is generally up to or under 4hrs, out 4hrs back, and 6hrs getting into trouble.

I like your style.
For me, I prefer to end my trouble making before dark. So, I guess I'm a bit more literal on the definition of "day trip" -- and it's now the season where the days are getting shorter.
I live in north and west of Boston. So Armor Ditch is about a 2 hour drive.
But I have also wanted to try the "Ma Bell"/"Old Florida Road" in Northampton MA -- which is about the same distance. Armor Ditch cost $$ but I think "Ma Bell" is free access. I think @SeptuagenarianSasquatch has gone on that trail a couple of times.
If you end up doing a day trip in Sept/Oct, let me know.

Like these ideas. I could be interested in something like this as well.

Excellent.
I will be travelling for a few weeks, but when I get back to Massachusetts, I'll let you know.
