I've just been thinking, I have rerouted my passenger-side harness to Everglades spec. I wonder what they'll do with that. That's not aftermarket but it isn't really factory either.

The dealership gets paid to remove and replace aftermarket additions when performing warranty work*

Exactly one year of owning a ford after 40 years of GM, mostly Chevy. What a mistake. Learned my lesson. Never again, obviously. Ford sucks, from top to bottom. They produce cheap crap. One time with GM had a trivial recall in all those years. ONCE. I'm at four or five in one year. Disgraceful incompetent people. Probably goes back to the unions.

My avalanche transmission grenaded at 21k miles. The engine grenaded at 110k miles. The 5.3 with Active Fuel Management was dumb but being flex fuel capable was cool.

Exactly how I feel too. I’d rather Ford say oh sorry we fucked up let’s fix it than say yeah just put a heavier weight oil in your motor, might help it. If you want something with zero issues go buy a Toyota, even they have problems now

Flex fuel is definitely cool. AFM is garbage though. All my buddies have brand new GM products and I think everyone has been in the shop for something. I’ll go drive a 5.0 until the wheels fall off. Still will take my F250 with the 6.2 over any GM product. Almost at 100k and still going strong

Yeah, I don't even like allowing the yahoos at the dealership driving my car in their parking lot. When I pick up the car I always have to remind the girl at the service counter to find someone who can drive a stick.

No way would I allow them to drive it 10 miles in city traffic.

My neighbor's Escalade is now on it's 3rd engine. Ford's recalls are at least minor stuff.

When I was in Anchorage in the 90’s, it was Worthington Ford. Goofiest car dealer TV ads I had ever seen. Go to YouTube and search “Cal Worthington and his dog Spot.”

Hint: It was never a dog.

Cal Worthington had dealerships all over California and Arizona as well.

Don't care if they don't "have a fix yet", they have a duty to provide owners with this kind of information so they can deal with the situation themselves if necessary.

Says right in the notification that the repair process will be published on the 31st.

This is how advanced notice works. Ford (by regulation) has to send out the notice before they have an approved fix. It's dumb. But it's government. So I expect dumb.

Yeah that's a good idea. Might see if I can get a look under the hood of a friend's new one. Not sure if I can do that anytime soon though.

Well, it's not THAT DUMB. Coming clean and saying publicly, "Hey, we got a problem" likely has a very thorough process. Making sure all the t's are crossed, i's are dotted and everyone in all parties in the process buys into the remedy action has some value. They release a repair and it's wrong or not complete or ineffective or someone of authority objects...it can turn into a total $hit $how trying to get things and thousands of affected employees and customers back on track to a meaningful, effective repair.

Like I said, don't care about whether they have a fix, approved or otherwise, but it's crazy to say "hey, your car may burst into flames, but we won't tell you what the problem is because we don't have a fix yet". There's no law saying they can't describe, in detail, what the problem is before there's a fix.
