Not a literal Bronco Raptor with a Lincoln badge. Like a metal roof, metal widebody, Fox suspension, but with a luxury interior. Like what a G-Wagon 4x4 squared is to a regular G-Wagon.
You will see a solid roof on the Lincoln

No, I'm not the target buyer. But I wrench more than most, have done things to vehicles only a handful of people here have done (anyone else change the frame on a 96 bronco that hit a tree sideways? Fun fact- you can buy the frame at a dealer and yes it is wild to see it standing some 12-15 or so feet in the air leaning against the building). And I love LUXURY. I can live with my truck, I LOVE it. Are things missing? Yes. I was so planning on keeping my truck for years. But now I am itching hardcore for the Filson. I have no idea who they are. But I want the upscale upgrades. And I will pay for them. Will that make people upset that it is made? Maybe. But how messed up do you have to be to feel that way???
Same boat for me as well! When I was researching what to replace my Mercedes with, I saw a picture online of a non-sas OBX with white letter KO2's on it and immediately fell in love. Had to have one with every possible option / upgrade I could get without triggering the Sasquatch package. Not that I couldn't afford Sasquatch, but I just didn't need it or really want it. It wasn't right for me and what I was planning to use the car for. Have 0% regrets, and paid MSRP. Overall, I've got about $65k into mine. Probably worth $40k today, and couldn't care less. Never getting rid of it.

I think if the Filson had been out when I went shopping, I'd of probably bought it instead. I really like the look of it! The proportions are perfect, wheel arches, tire placement/size, stance, etc. Looks very well balanced overall. I'm glad they didn't do a fixed roof too. If they're going to go that route, then they're going to go up against some notable competitors and lose a segment of buyers. Not everyone buys these things to throw them against a mountain or traverse the mighty Mississippi River in. Some of us buy them because they're one of only two four door convertibles you can buy in the automotive world in general. A Filson with a soft top on it in "safari mode" would be an absolute joy and a luxury unmatched by any other vehicle out there!

I can't get over how so many people get lost in the conversation. When something doesn't appeal to them they are against it. I have ZERO desire to get a raptor. The thing is wayyyyyy too wide and over the top for my life. I LOVE that they made it and people enjoy it. Awesome. Make the next gen even better.

For me? Just hit 50. This is my 5th Bronco, I had an 80, 82, 89 and 96 in the 90's.

My wife and I picked up her new BL Navigator last year when she saw a Bronco and wanted to check it out. I (and we frankly) fell in love. What did I do? I talked myself (and her) to not just impulse buy it, but to also sell my 2019 S560 Mercedes I bought new.

The 6g was made to a large degree with a specific community in mind. Not that off roaders are the only buyers (maybe 1-2%?), but they are definitely the loudest when it comes to "owning" the Bronco culture. To a degree, it is a little astonishing that Ford built the Bronco 6g for off road first.

A lot of it's expensive bits are wrapped in that affinity: stronger axles, bigger tires, lockers, sta-bar disconnect. Extras that cost real money (to include and warranty). Not that many of the aficionados don't crab about missing lux amenities like higher grade interior plastics, interior sound quality, air conditioned seats, (ahem!) memory seats... Yeah, the Bronco 6g has been pretty heavy metal, as much as a consumer mainstream vehicle could be at least.

But I think we should be real for a minute: 98-99% buy this thing for the style. Not for the off road chops. I think having a truly lux model is a miss for Ford, but I do hope it doesn't signal Ford walking away from the underlying off roader culture and hollowing it out for those lux culture dollars. I honestly don't think that's going to happen (we're talkin' Ford here!), but the alternative may very well be it simply gets canceled. So the culture both needs and loathes that which sustains it.

So ignore the haters. Who cares what they think. Enjoy it while you can, because for all it's faults, the 6g Bronco is pretty dang awesome just for existing.

Unless Ford really messes up, or the outdoor craze crashes, Ford isn’t discontinuing the Bronco anytime soon. It’s one of the few bright spots they have from a sales perspective, aside from the F150.

Its rough edges and quirks (as much as people complain about them) are what gives it its character.

The same formula has worked for Jeep for decades.

Agreed. My gripes are a few glaring easy to fix items. Ventilated seats, I mean when I leave the vehicle with the top down those seats get HOT. No reason to omit it as an option. And memory seats is a big one for me, If my wife has to move the truck 6 feet she resets everything. Also auto hold- it is literally an option in forscan that can just be turned on, just turn it ON!!

I'd also like some colors inside. I was ready to go with a Katskin custom interior until I heard about the Filson. I also have done HC charge pipers/intercooler and tune to get the power levels up and insulated to keep the noise levels down along with some B&O upgrades. Seems like this model addresses so many of my wish list items (except memory seats and probably auto hold).

Agree, and think Ford has led the charge in the nostalgia / retro return for a few other manufactures who have gone down that same road a bit, namely Toyota with the LC.

The great part however, is that no Bronco is left behind as they evolve. At their core, they're all very cool regardless of the options / model type. In many ways, I think one the greatest aspect of the Bronco isn't what Ford does, but what the aftermarket is doing to them. They've become similar to buying a new construction house. You buy the house, but then you ultimately end up making it a home with your own style and tweaks. Makes them all unique!

Agree 100%. Ford is leaving a lot of money on the table with the color choices now, especially on the interior. Just some wood accents here and there, or bring back the "roast" color scheme. Something to break up all the blacks. The center console area is screaming for a little "churching up"!

From a luxury POV, I think you're right. Air conditioned seats are definitely a luxury in an off road vehicle! lol But I would like to have them for long trips. I do think it's a hole Ford can fill with a new model.

I would say you don't need it for either air conditioned seats (aftermarket is a better option in my opinion, even if Ford offered it) or auto hold (not sure what that is), so the biggest miss is the memory seats. Which I get, that is frustrating since the Bronco works best when it's dialed in for you and someone jacks it up all the time.

So I'll call that a real miss Ford should resolve, but probably won't given there's probably a reason (it's a pain to warranty?). Let's hope the Filson gets most of the lux upgrades right and doesn't do a paper job like the Lux package.

This is brand salad however, and I would say is therefore a difficult sell. Lincoln (grandpa, luxury, comfort) meets Bronco (utility, purpose-built, legacy-sensitive) meets Raptor (monster energy drink dudeness WOOOO!!!). Doesn’t make sense to the customer. It’s a floor wax AND a dessert topping! And at $130K, for a Ford? My guess is market research would sink this idea quickly.
I feel like Lincoln as a brand is mostly dead. Generally speaking, I forget it even exists, and I rarely see Lincolns on the road. If I were shopping for a luxury vehicle, it wouldn't even occur to me to shop for a Lincoln because I tend to forget they exist. Spending 130k on a brand that I forget exists? I just don't see how. My first thought for a capable Luxury SUV is the Land Rover. Second is Lexus.

Ford needs to do a lot more than just create a luxury Bronco to get people talking about Lincolns again. And if people aren't talking about Lincolns, they're not shopping for Lincolns. I'm not even sure that Bronco is the best place to start for a luxury SUV. Everest is a better starting point.

Auto hold is where you can take your foot off the brake when stopped and the vehicle will not move until you hit the gas. Mercedes does it best- when you are stopped if you push the brake down further it will auto hold. Easy to set when you want it. It's great after long drives or a lot of stop and go. But most importantly- I really need it in the Bronco. I guess it is the vertical driving position, but my leg does bug me after a bit of driving the truck. I wish I could take the foot off and rest it a min. It's the only vehicle I have felt it in and as I said it probably is due to sitting up and down with the pedal under you pushing it more down vs other vehicles where your legs are more forward pushing towards the pedal. Again, it isn't a deal breaker but knowing it is programmed into the truck and just isn't turned on is BAFFLING...

Ford should have put the 3.0 in the 4 door Stroppe instead of into an over the top luxury model.
Word on the street has it that the Filson version will have a ‘retuned’ motor to ensure a very smooth and gradual power delivery so the driver will not spill his oatmilk latte onto his tropical poplin cargo shorts (Only $169).
but ford will sell you a pro cal to bump it back to the raptor HP for $800 lol

100%. Right now there's questions as to whether the procal is worth it. If they detune the motor a bit, that math changes.

if the engine isn't detuned then it will be 418/440, 440 torque on a 4.7 diff is pretty overkill, even with 35's on. At this point you are more gear limited then power transfer limited.

The advertised torque numbers for the 3.0 post performance option is pretty dang high. I wouldn't be jumping too fast on that.

Isn’t that what the Aviator is though, a “Lincoln” Explorer?
