Sun Visor Install - What am I doing wrong!!!

Removed visor and lost clip nut into the A-Pillar. Got a new one and I cannot for the life of me get this thing to stay put when tightening. Once tight the clip just pulls right through the three sided hole. Removed the one in my Explorer and it just went back in in 30 seconds and tightened right up. Of course it is an actual hole with 4 sides. I am dumbfounded at this after three hours of trying to get it back installed. Any help would be appreciated.

OK. Here's the trick. Just take the clip and extend the side locking arms out far enough that the clip can slide in and the arms extend over each side of the hole cleanly. It then will not pull back out. Stupid, stupid design.
