if you don't have all top shelf MAC or Snap-On tools. If that Torx detail gets stripped out, the fun of alternative extraction techniques begins! :)

Ford Bronco {thread} {filename}
??? it is a Mac tool
It is an extraction specific tool
Ducate posted it as a good way to remove rounded bolts

Along with what has already been mentioned, I highly recommend removing the thread lock from the bolts with a wire wheel, then applying a dab of anti-seize compound prior to re-installation. Also a good idea to use some compressed air to blow out the holes in the wheels. Do this, and swapping rings will be a piece of cake.
I put a T-45 on a socket to check the fit. For giggles I applied pressure to the little 6 1/2" socket handle, and the screw broke loose with minimal effort.

I pulled the entire screw out to make sure it even had thread locker on it.

I tried several others on different wheels, and they were all the same.
I then grabbed my smallest 3/8" drive Torque wrench, and I was able to loosen it on the lowest setting of 120 in.-lbs. The wrench didn't click which means the screws are torqued to less than 10 ft.-lbs.

@dpAtlanta, I think I had 2 or 3 bolts per wheel that were significantly tighter than the other 9 or 10. I considered getting my stock black rings powder coated for $300, which included some size bag powder of my choice that they said could coat a whole bunch of other stuff if I wanted. Something to think about.

Yeah, it's the thread lock that makes the bolts come out with resistance. Once you clean that off, and blow out the holes, and never-seize them, you can spin them in/out with your fingers. I also have two ring sets, a powder coated set for date night, and a trash set for trails. Now I use my 18V Makita driver, and can swap them in less than 5 minutes.

@DALOLA and @dpAtlanta, you might want to consider the SFR Scratchuatch for trail duty. Dallas has a number of colors, they seem pretty rugged, protect the wheel better, actually give the stock wheel a little different look, are only $250 or so for a set, and you can replace individual segments if one gets fragged. I sound like a salesman, but I just like mine, though I kind of wished I'd gotten A51 color. The only thing I didn't like is the valve stem access gets a little tight, but I just ground a relief with a burr in 5 of the segments for better access.

I checked out their website after you posted it earlier... It is great for off-roading due to the material and the scratches and gouges aren't as noticeable.

I did want a clean set of OEM aluminum rings for the mall parking lot.

Once my trail rings are toast, I will be looking into the SFR Scratchuatch, so thanks for the heads up about that product my friend!

I looked at those, but ended up getting a set of OEM rings that were already damaged for half the price of the SFR's. Now I just swap them, pending my activity, which is 90% date night style with the powder coated rings. 💋

Hey, if you're getting past 3rd base on date night, I wouldn't change a thing!
