If you want a vehicle to be an investment you need to go rare. My 13 gt500 convertible w 10,000 miles is worth what I paid for it last time I checked. I’ve enjoyed it for 13 years and it will cost me $0 except for inflation loss

buy a raptor , don’t drive it.- 0 miles. And maybe in 15-20 years you can sell it for what you paid :)

broncos aren’t special. You’re going to lose most of its value. If that bugs you? Buy used from now on
Yes, but even so its a gamble. There is a huge difference to seeing a vehicle go for a crazy price on one of those TV auctions, and actually getting that much for your vehicle.

The problem with used Broncos is that it is a vehicle ripe for abuse by the first owner. They buy it to beat the crap out of off-roading and then 3 years later, when the warranty runs out, clean it up and trade it in. The used buyer has no idea what they are really taking on.... Not like buying a regular used car.
I consider any used vehicle to be abused, and expect a bargain price meaning close to half the price of new.

One of the fastest ways to depreciate your bronco is to add a bunch of aftermarket crap to it that will make every potential buyer skittish. New wheels, 2" lift, body molding, engine tune, custom exhaust, etc. Any smart buyer would choose an unmolested car.
I don't think aftermarket mods actually depreciate the value but they certainly won't add much, if any, to the actual resale value. That's why I am returning my '21 BL back to stock before selling it, well, with the exception of the wheels and maybe a few other minor mods. Then the bumpers, coilovers, tires, and whatever else will get offloaded on one of the marketplace's.

Well I agree that depreciation depends on the mod. But mods will greatly reduce the number of buyers who are willing to consider purchasing your car and it may sit on the market longer, unless discounted.

Like anything else it depends on the mods. Tastefully done rims/tires and a stereo upgrade wouldn't impact the sale much nor would moving from plastic bumpers to a modular etc.

I think mods will limit resale buyers. There are quite a few people who will not buy a vehicle that has mods, especially lift kits. You never know the quality of the parts, who installed it and if it was installed properly.

Traded my 2020 Ram 1500 for my 2023 Bronco. Had 170,000 miles, one accident and some minor engine malfunctions :ROFLMAO: … $63k truck worth a mere $12k. Ouch! Glad I traded before it completely chit the bed.
Ill go one better...'16 Jaguar F-Type, manual, coupe...1 of 440 that year with stick.

Sticker was ~$93K and I got it new as the '18s were hitting the shore, so substantial discount.

I rolled it on Labor Day, total loss. Insurance claimed it was barely worth $21K despite the TWO available in the US being listed at close to $40K. They refused to consider them because they were more than 500 miles away.

Funny thread...:crying: What you paid a dealer isn't what the vehicle is worth! That's just how much you were willing/suckered/pressured to spend.

As a general rule, the Base models will depreciate the least. The higher the trim and options, the greater the depreciation.
2022 Base. Still worth what I paid for it. Helps that Ford raised prices by 12 grand.

yikes. That's the rub with regular insurance. Only collector car insurance lets you dictate the value. Otherwise, if I wrecked my Shelby Cobra 427 replica, it would be appraised at about $2K as a 1995 Ford.

It's just like a motorcycle. Doesn't matter how much chrome or aftermarket parts you throw on it, it's still only worth what someone is going to pay for it. Many times it's not what you think.

I bought my 23 Raptor with 14K miles for $60k. The window sticker was still in the car and someone paid in the ballpark of $89K for it new just two years earlier. That's a LOT of depreciation. Basically why I tend to buy used with low miles as I'm not taking the depreciation hit out of the dealership.

This aligns with asking prices I see. Still really nothing under 30k even for 21s now 5 years old.

The catch-22 was that, if it was on Hagerty with the Miata, Spider, and XK8, I would have been capped on mileage...I liked driving it too damned much for that.

The three on Hagerty have the same liability limits as the daily driver policy plus stated value for less than $1K per year...

Makes sense I only put about 1k miles per year on my cobra so it's about $600 for $60K agreed value policy (through USAA Collector car division)
