Ordered IAG dome light kit for my 4-door hardtop Bronco, but really didn't like the way they stick out with the brackets. Looked far from stock. But their install video gave some clear instructions for running the wires, so decided to do a custom solution with flush mount LEDs. Picked the ones linked below because they have a low profile on the back side, mount flush, and are aluminum vs. plastic. Ran wires along the roll bar, then down the A-pillar similar to the IAG process. Trim pieces are easy to remove and pop back in, and these mount behind the airbags so no possible interference there. Tied into the door opening wire via vampire clip, and also ran a wire to one of the upfitter switches. Both work now. You do need to use a diode inline from the door open wire to where it connects to the upfitter switch so that the upfitter doesn't send current back through the dome light circuit. Overall, really happy with how bright it lights up the interior, how it automatically comes on with the door opening, and how it blends in when not in use. On/Off compare pics attached.

Oooh! I'm adding these to my 82' Spider and my Bronco. Both suffer from a lack of lighting.

These look amazing!
Ever thought of making a parts list? I'm really interested in doing this to mine.

Can you share a simple wiring diagram?

Unfortunately I can't find the original installation instructions from V1 of the IAG light kit. Those had the details of the wire in the harness behind the kick panel that you need to tap to get the dome light signal. I need that in order to make a wiring diagram. Not sure where that leaves me in trying to help you replicate this. The new IAG kit looks like it has a more user friendly plug and play harness adapter

I believe their V2 Kit they now include that box that plugs in to the rear dome light. Instead of tapping into to dome light wire by the fuse panel.

So couldn't I just use the v2 kit wire it up how they say to but instead of using their lights use the ones you got from amazon? I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Yes I'm sure that would work and would make the wiring a lot simpler. Just costs more since you're buying that whole kit. Tapping into that door wire behind the kick panel was definitely the toughest part of the job

Do these gradually fade on and off when you open and close the door?

Yes. Exactly the same as the stock interior dome lights

I really like your idea and thanks for sharing. Just checking in now to see if you've had any issues or still happy with the installation. Also want to confirm it looks like you installed 3 lights on each side, is that correct? Thanks

Still very happy with them. As much as the day I put them in. I also put two on the roll bar over the cargo area. Same lights and wired into the same circuit. That does a great job lighting up the rear cargo area when you open the door. Way better than the stock light on the side of the cargo area.
