That’s quite impressive. Can you share the STL?
Merry Christmas!

Note: I did scale it up considerably in the slicer. I think the original was pretty small. Printing out a much larger one now.

Might be larger than fits on my 256 x 256 mm build plate

Really trying not to jump to the next size up
Looking at Warn and Badlands open (portion where sun hits) spool size, it looks like about 8 to 10 inches wide and 7 inches tall. Because the main purpose would be to shield the synthetic rope from the sun and bugs and it would need to have an opening to allow some of the spool to connect, it would really just be a shell for the top portion of the spool with an open slot across the bottom for the spooled portion. So the actual size would be less. It could even come in two pieces which snap together to form a larger surface area. Tough part would be figuring out how to hold it in place securely, but also allow for removal during actual winch use.

Awesome! Eagerly waiting for your STL.

What would be your suggested material that could be printed at a local makerspace?

Thanks for the STL!

Wow that is tiny! One unit tall or something like that. I scaled it to 100mm tall and added a 7mm hole in the bottom to mount to my dash rail as an option.

Question is what direction should it face?

Horse facing forward with the direction of the vehicle (like a hood ornament)? But then I’m looking at its ass while driving.

Facing me is better. Plus it makes sense since I can say the crack in my windshield was caused by the bucking bronco. :ROFLMAO:

Sideways just looked odd.

Printed in ASA with a lot of tree supports.

These are amazing. Indeed them for KC Flex Era 4. I have literally zero 3d design skills though.

I wish I would have measured my lights before mounting them would have made my life easier but I’m still iterating. They held up to highway speeds today though.

Yeah, I printed a bigger one and it took a ton more supports. I also had to manually apply the supports.

Here is a very rough concept drawing (please no laughing!!)
Well ya said no laughing, so naturally I had to laugh at the post. Your drawing does at least give me an idea of what you guys are talking about finally.

But please clarify, everyone is looking to have a shield that sits inside the winch housing basically? Just to protect the braided winch lines? Looks like that'd be a bit of a pain to figure out, but it is interesting. Personally I'm just using a winch cover. I will follow this conversation to see what the final result is.

this is why my initial thought was 'too big' for my build plate!
but he had a totally different concept for protecting the winch

Yes, that is the idea. It would only cover the spool to protect the synthetic rope from sun, bugs, road spray ... The rest of the winch body is pretty much already metal or hard plastic. It would either snap in place or maybe be held with magnets. The cover would be removed when the winch is actually used. This would mostly be for standard, open, front end mounts. It smaller and more aerodynamic than the large fabric "pillow case" covers. It could be made in different accent colors or with lettering/emblems. I am a bit surprised winch suppliers don't have a product similar to this.

I have for the Wolfbox camera. Though we haven't had any rain to test it out, and after that I need to tweak it a little bit as I can see the corner in the camera. I'll say this, it's very basic at this point, but if it works I'll be sticking with it. Attach to camera with double sided tape, Haven't taken any pics of it installed.
