Extending and Hardening Bronco TPMS Stems

I know you can add different stems to the Ford TPMS sensors, but I am not sure what the options might be. So I am currently using valve stem extenders to get the ridiculously short Bronco stems. I have to do this to get external TPMS sensors that integrate into the RV display system. I have read some discussions saying adding the weight on end of the stems is a bad idea and some recommend metal stems versus the rubber ones. Has anyone done any work on this and know what is possible?

You're not worried about rocks hitting your valve stem extenders?

Well, I want them to be as short as possible. I guess that is a reason to use extenders. I could take them off. But I am more worried about stem failure when on the highway due to the weight of the sensors hanging off an extended stem.
