OK, I need to bitch a little. When Turn mentioned in May (post #152) that they were redesigning the tailgate bracket to help resolve some of the issues some of us are having, I waited 2 months and called requesting the new bracket. I was told at that time that it wasn't available yet, but would be shortly. I don't remember who I talked to, but I requested that they please send me the new bracket when it was available - to which he agreed that they would. That was 2 months ago and I haven't received anything from Turn.

So, I just got off the phone and was told that there isn't a redesigned tailgate bracket - WTF? I see that @mvilla got a new bumper and @kingcon99 got a new bracket. What are the changes from the original design?

@Turn Offroad @TURN Todd , what's the deal? Is there a fix to the issues mentioned in this thread? My swing rattles like crazy (bump stops are compressed, pivot bearings are tight and smooth, heims are at the extreme limits with no adjustability left...). I don't drive my bronco daily, so I don't think about it all the time, but if I need to start driving it more the rattles will drive me insane.

@TURN Todd TL;DR all previous pages, so sorry if I missed this if answered.

I just went to check out the Hyperlyte rear bumper, and what you posted here on page 1 differs from your website. I much prefer smooth look to the spare tire cutout version. Why the difference? How would someone order the smooth face version? Thanks,

Ford Bronco New Bumpers from TURN Offroad Hyperlyte 1

Smooth face with NO spare tire cutout. Just What I want.

Ford Bronco New Bumpers from TURN Offroad Hyperlyte 2

Spare tire cutout shown. Not what I want.

Hey! I understand your frustration for sure. The "tailgate bracket" I received wasn't really a redesign. The major change was the rubber bump stops. Maybe reach out about receiving those? As far as I can tell the design of the bracket and the tiny bump stop on that piece itself didn't change, but the rubber bump stops that mount directly tot he tail gate (to replace the OEM ones) are what was different. They are significantly larger/longer than the OEM bump stops.

The reason I got an entirely new bracket was due to that failure noted in my earlier post where one of the heim joint mounting points actually sheered off, otherwise the bumps are probably all they needed to have sent me had it not been for that.

My understanding was the slight change actually took place on the swing arm bracket, specifically the lower one being dropped a bit lower to fit the hardware easier, which I circumvented using a different bolt on my old model. I did not receive a new swing arm with that bracket change.

Hope that helps, @Arokcrwlr !!

Thank you. Makes me wonder what Turn was referring to when mentioning a redesigned bracket... 🤷‍♂️. I'm going to work with them to see if can get rid of the rattles. If not, I'll move on to bumper number 3 (probably expedition one).

Your bumper has rattles? My immediate thought would be the heim joints. Can you replicate the rattles when closing the gate or just when driving?

I need to bitch some too. I realize now, only thanks to @mvilla, that there are assembly instructions available. I was told early on that they were putting together the video and would let me know when it was ready.
Major gripe: When I asked @TURN Todd about the PITA mounting of the sensors, he referred me to the original bumper install video that shows backing plates holding in the sensors. My bumper came with plastic "clips" to hold the sensors in place. No plates and no provision for them to be mounted.
Has anyone else had this issue? TIA!

It's not the heims rattling. It rattles when closing the tailgate and driving over bumps. Maybe longer bumpstops is the solution, but the current bumpstops are squished when closed...

I really want to pick this up, but hoping the issues get sorted before I do…any updates?

So far so good on mine. Again I did have to visit Ace for some alternative hardware to make the heim joints work, but the new bump stops made a huge difference for me in terms of alignment.

I still notice a LOT of wiggle and jiggle when closing the swing gate and driving over bumps, even with the good contact on the bump stops, so I still worry about longevity, but the operation is working very smoothly.

I’ve contacted them a number of times regarding installation instructions and have not received a response that makes sense. They referred me to their installation video which shows a different type of bumper than mine. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Turn Off-road products.

Definitely a bummer. This is the exact set-up (in theory) that I'm looking for. I love TurnOffroad, but I can't pull the trigger on something that's sending me to the hardware store.

@Turn Offroad @TURN Todd - is this all sorted out yet?

Definitely a bummer for me since I had high hopes for this bumper. It was simple to mount the actual bumper but after contacting Turn, I got no information on how to assemble/mount the tire carrier. Aside from that, they sent me a bumper that did not resemble the bumper in their online video. When I went to install the sensors in the bumper, instead of backing plates I received plastic "clips" to hold them in place. My bumper didn't have a way to mount the backing plates even if I had received them.

Yes, this video is helpful. I was led to believe that I would have received it long ago. Now, how about mounting those sensors. The plastic clips are janky.....

The sensor mounts provided mimic the factory setup. You’ll need to remove the little white O-Ring on the sensor for them to install properly.
