Greetings All,

General Q: I went into this to understand the CPO details, but was left more confused. I just purchased a 2023 pre-owned Gold-certified Bronco Sport with less than 20K miles; I wound up buying an extended warranty, and I'm wondering if that was the right move. Wouldn't the Gold Certified cover my vehicle upon purchase? Or, is that just covering the driver train portion of the warranty?
I can always cancel the extended warranty, but again, I was confused after the purchase.

well, this is not a Bronco Sport forum, so there's that.

But:

https://www.ford.com/used/about-certified/ford-blue-advantage/?gnav=vhpnav-about-certified

Gold gives you 12 month/12k "comprehensive limited warranty":

Gold Certified Comprehensive Limited Warranty Details

In addition to the 172-point inspection, every Gold Certified used vehicle comes with a 12-Month/12,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Comprehensive Limited Warranty1 covering more than 1,000 components.
Areas of coverage include:

  • Engine
  • Transmission
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Front-wheel drive
  • Steering components
  • Brakes
  • Front and rear suspension
  • Electrical system
  • Air conditioning and heating
  • Technology components
  • Emissions components
  • Factory-installed audio system
  • Safety systems

plus the Gold Certified limited powertrain warranty:

On top of the 12-Month/12,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Comprehensive Limited Warranty,1 we include 7-Year/100,000-Mile (whichever comes first) Powertrain Limited Warranty1 coverage with every Gold Certified used vehicle covering the engine, transmission and more.

not sure why you'd want an additional third party contract of any kind...other than they saw you was a sucker.

NOTE: the powertrain warranty is 7/100 from first date of service, not from your purchase date.

They should've provided a copy of your agreement - everything is listed / did you read through it?

FWIW, if it makes you feel better to have ESP coverage on a vehicle, shop around. There are many options out there and you can negotiate pricing as well. Me - I simply make sure to have $$$ set aside for repairs & let the OEM warranty determine operability.

Enjoy that Sport tho - congrats! :D

This is precisely what I thought upon purchase. I'm canceling the extended warranty as we speak. Thank you for this and sorry about the incorrect insert; first time.

I did. My mistake was assuming that would go into effect upon the original warranty experation date. Foolishly I overlooked the date. Its now redundant and a slimy business tactic. Its all good though, I corrected it. I got them to give me 4 new tires after threatening to return the vehicle with their 1,000-mile satisfaction warranty. Lesson learned

always is.

And they do it because...drum roll, please...it works. They get away with it. People HATE to read. They see a monthly payment that works for them, and that's it.

Absolutely true. I'm not flexing on this but when I said I'll just return the car based on your 1,000-mile guarantee, the tide shifted real fast. I learned the hard way. Thanks again.
