JCR Bronco Bull Bar

Just 10 bolts and a few hundred dollars are all that separates you from a rather burly bar that doesn’t interfere with the 360 cam.

A few notes:

- Be sure to get a T40 plus bit. Bolts come out easy, but you’ll want to not mess things up when torquing.
- Torque bolts to 25Nm. That’s just over 18ft-lbs in Freedom Loving Moon Landing units.
- It can be a bit tight, so make sure you keep a finger between tools and bodywork.
- You may need to lean on or push your bumper end caps a bit to get everything lined up.
- Hardest part is getting the dang staples out of the box lid.
- Second hardest part is getting off the foam protection.
- Have someone help hold it in place while you bolt it on.

Oh no, I guess you won’t be leaving a duck or whatever on my vehicle.

I routinely come across groups of 6-10 deer in the evening and wanted something that offered more protection than the safari bar or most bull bars, didn’t interfere with the camera, and had more points of contact with the bumper.


I think it looks fine, but I am more focused on a functional use than anything else.

I routinely come across groups of 6-10 deer in the evening and wanted something that offered more protection than the safari bar or most bull bars, didn’t interfere with the camera, and had more points of contact with the bumper.


I think it looks fine, but I am more focused on a functional use than anything else.

I tagged a small one about a month after getting my HE and I was lucky enough that it only bent back the capable bumper on the end. I wouldn't image that a bolt on bar would be strong enough not to fold back the bar into your grille and cause just as much damage. There's a few full bumpers that I've seen on here that are no shit heavy duty if you live in deer country and would give you actual protection that you're looking for.

I do like the look though, good luck!

I could be wrong, but I don’t think there is any Safari bar or bull bar that is really going to protect the front of your bronco from major damage if you hit a 200 pound deer or a 500 pound elk at speeds above 25 miles an hour let alone highway speeds.

I have been in a vehicle that hit a deer at 40-50mph. The truck had a steel bumper, the passenger headlight was toast, and the front fender was bent up, but the bumper saved the radiator and the engine and we were able to drive home.

I just don’t see a bull bar good for anything more than moving branches, or nudging large animals off the road.

A direct head on collision is definitely going to present some sort of an issue, but I figure a glancing blow off to the side will give me at least a 50/50 chance.

Thankfully the worst places for them usually end up being the roads that I take rather slowly because the Bronco seems to get a lot more squirrelly than my 4Runner used on the corrugated dirt surfaces once you hit 30mph - might be just that one section of road, but there are a couple of times where it stopped being fun.

The tubing is thick enough that I believe I could clip one slightly and not have much of an issue.

Hopefully won’t find out.

Might provide some protection against the vultures. Not planning to test it out, but I swear that they really never seem like they are in a hurry when a car is bearing down on them.
