Thanks for the reply It does not have the trailer tow kit. So can I just add the Ford Trailer Brake Harness Towing 4/7 Plug Connector and have a Ford dealer program the computer. It makes no sense to me that they would put that plug there if it wasn't prewired. am I missing something?

Do you mean this 4/7 Plug Connector?: https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/w...rake-control-harness-connector-p-9u5z14489maa

I don’t think that will work since you are still missing the trailer control module.

All 2024 Broncos came pre-wired for trailer tow, even if it wasn’t built with the trailer tow option. That means it has the required wiring from the front of the vehicle to a location in the cargo area (behind the driver-side trim panel) and then wired from that same location to that blue 7-pin plug you found. The only thing missing in this case is (1) the hitch, (2) the trailer tow control module, (3) the 4/7-pin connector, (4) and some programming.. Items 1, 2, & 3 come with the 2024 Bronco Trailer Tow accessories kit. If you installed an aftermarket hitch, you are still missing items 2, 3, & 4.

I don’t own a 2024 bronco (mine is a 2023) so i am only guessing, but I think that blue 7-pin plug you found is not connected to the necessary power&signals without the trailer control module.

Here are the installation instructions for 2024 Bronco Trailer tow accessories kit: https://www.fordservicecontent.deal...ry_files/VP2DZ_15A416_B_Bronco_Trailertow.pdf

For 2021-2023 MY Broncos like mine, we didn’t have all the pre-wiring - we didn’t have wiring to the rear bumper like yours did. So adding the Trailer Tow accessories kit was a lot more complicated for full 7-pin connector since it required adding additional harness to the rear. For comparison, here is the 2021-2023 installation instructions: https://www.fordservicecontent.deal...s/VP2DZ_15A416_A_Bronco_TrailerTowHarness.pdf

if you already have the hitch and the 4/7-pin receptacle on your 2024MY Bronco, and want just the trailer tow module the service part number is M2DZ-19H332-A

I would verify with your ford dealer, and also ask if they will enable the software on your Bronco to use it after you install it.

Hi everyone, glad I found this forum. Had 2dr manual Jeeps forever and pulled the pin on a 2025 Bronco 4dr a couple of months ago. Sooo glad I made the switch.

In regard to the topic of this post, I also found the blue 7pin plug when I installed a Curt hitch. Grabbed a slip-in converter for my 4pin utility trailer and promptly discovered it was a proprietary Ford fit.

Step two would normally be to splice into the factory color coded wiring behind the 7pin I don’t need and insert the 4pin I do. However, after reading this thread I am not certain that will work. Is there no power to the basic trailer wiring (lights, brakes, flashers, signals) without that having to fuss with that control module thing?

Thanks,

Mac

Well, after consulting with my local Ford dealership I was informed that the blue 7 pin was hot for the 4 wire trailer hook up. “Trust but verify” is a phrase I learned live by in my former job. So I dutifully tested the pins and learned that the brown wire showed 12v (more or less) as I stepped through running lights, brakes, and turn signals. All the others were dead. So I decided to install the Curt 4pin harness I’d purchased before discovering the Ford 7pin. Took more time than simple splicing would have, but it works.

If you decide to do the Curt 4 pin harness install, here is the YouTube video I found to be most helpful.
