And here I thought the Bronco forums would be different than the (insert vehicle here) forums!! You want to see oil change warfare, check out the Cummins forum. Holy shit.

I love the plug and getting oil out fast, that is the only good change. The filter is junk, I left the plug out and the rest of the oil dripping, then screwed the filter housing off and let it drain for maybe 30 minutes before I lifted it out, oil was still up in the cap and gets all over, spin offs are a much cleaner and faster process.
Did you leave out the part where you forgot to put the filter cap on and pumped oil into the engine bay after startup?

Oil and BBQ discussions are almost always guaranteed to boil over no matter where they take place.

Bronco forum is way more civil than the Corvette forums! Both equally entertaining.

Home Depot 3.5 gallon bucket (sawed off 5 gal) is the key, for me. No splashing onto the floor and no problem with the 1 qt per second drain rate. Just put the bucket under the plug and pull it. Might be a tight fit under a non-Sasquatch without a jack though.

I like the cartridge filter because it’s fewer things for the made in who-knows-where by the lowest bidding filter factory to screw up. No internal valving to screw up as Fram has apparently been doing again lately.

Here’s a strange thing, I always change my oil since it was new, I changed my oil every 5000 miles and I always put 6 quarts of mobile one. I checked my oil and it’s always full today at 40,000 miles. I changed my oil and it seems to be a quart low at 6 quarts, so I had to put 7 quarts check the dipstick and it’s right on that’s weird. I can’t explain what happened.

Do you always check the oil at the same temperature & at least 15 minutes after shutting down the engine? For every 100 degrees F of temperature decrease the oil contracts by about 5%, so if the jugs were outside in winter before you put them in that could do it. Also if you ran the engine then read the dipstick right away you’d read low since the oil hadn’t all drained in the pan. My Broncos both need about 6 and 1/3 qt to read full when oil and engine are at about 60F.
