On my bucket list. Last time winter camping was about 45 yrs ago, Boy Scouts, ground tent. Love the youtube vids of overlanders plowing through the snow to get to some remote camping spot... I'm sure I won't get that extreme but I do want to experience winter camping again, although in a RTT. Looking forward to others stories and experiences.

Thinking about your time as a Boy Scout? Ages ago. I often find myself watching YouTube videos of people camping as same as you. Whenever the footage shifts to a campfire scene, I feel an incredible sense of calm wash over me. Rooftop tents are another great option—they're just another way to enjoy camping. Camping always brings me a sense of peace, allowing me to fully immerse myself in my own world.

By the way, how do you go about rooftop tent camping? Do you set up a grill like those folks on YouTube and cook yourself a nice meal? I'm eagerly looking forward to hearing other people's winter camping stories, as well as your own rooftop camping experiences.

Hello! I didn't camp really at all since my boy scout days, up until these past few years. I have not done the winter trip yet, maybe next year, not prepared for this year. Got back into camping a few years ago with my adult sons, utilizing a ground tent. Get away from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city, job, etc. Typically in a National or State park, using their facilities, fire pits, etc. We try to cook mostly on the open fire. Hang out around the fire and just bond. Lots of hiking and exploring. We try to take one major cross country trip a year. The rest are local campgrounds in MN. A few solo trips just to relax.

This past year we started the roof top tent experience. Get off the hard ground away from critters, etc. Here's my set up, my rtt on the Bronco, my sons in the rtt on the diy overlanding trailer. Has worked very well for us, we all love it. I'll have to admit, for a winter trip I will be using a diesel heater unit. Temps down into the 40's got a bit chilly for me, 50 and up was great. I too am looking forward to others winter stories.

Wow, your camping setup is way bigger than I imagined! You've even got a little trailer at the back of your car. Are you keeping out squirrels? Haha!
