I've researched/searched at nauseum, tires this size for the use case are annoying me. I have to decide on something this week.

My wife's HLE arrives this weekend, the SAS tires do not jive with our gravel driveway, that is the only reason I'm replacing them ASAP. I don't want higher than a load range D tire, on-road, quiet and wet traction needs to be good.

I'm leaning toward the Mickey Thompson Baja EXPs (D) or the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W (C), how are these with gravel compared to the SAS tires? Are there less aggressive options that don't look nerdy and not in the E/F range?

Even these are overkill since it will never be off road. I have my old 35" Baja ATs sitting the garage, I was going to put those on this new Bronco, but again that'd be a waste so I'll put those on the Jeep since the Goodyear MTs are trashed.

Thanks!!

over at tire rack.com, those might be the 'on-road off terrain' category

I've been doing the same research and have narrowed it down to one of the following in the same size, 315/70/17... BFG KO3 or Toyo Open Country RT Trails. I have run KO2's on my F150 for over 50k miles and no complaints. The Toyo is a newer tread pattern but from what I've seen they're great all around tires as well. Definitely a lot to choose from! Good luck!

The only KO3s in that size that I found are load range F! Did you find a different option?

Not yet but hoping more options become available by the time I'm ready. Have 27K on my factory GY Tires.

They do, they're all load range E. That's fine if I were shopping for my 3500HD.

I have the Maxxis Razr M/T's, which are D. I think they're great and the voids I can put my fingers in; I've yet to hear any rocks flinged. However, don't know their wet performance yet and some complain they don't last that long (if you're towing...). Oh, and they're quiet above 30mph but clomp a bit due to the aggressive tread.

You can go to the trusty tire comparison spreadsheet and filter for C/D load tires:

i made a couple of posts here but link i supplied recommends p series tires on gravel. and it also lists how to identify the lt from a p. someone else supplied a really nice list of choices. the biggest difference in the 2 types are sidewall stiffness and belting. good luck.

Run the Falken Wildpeaks 4w with a C load. You don't need a stronger tire as they will just weigh more, and it is a very quiet tire, extremely capable for all types of wheeling, and will last a long time. Plus they look good and will not pick up gravel like your existing tires.

Thanks! I'll have to click on each one I haven't looked at to see the tread pattern since this Bronco will NEVER be off road.
