Just got back from our annual August road trip. Started off in Taos, up the Million Dollar Highway to Montrose and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and then over to Creede for a few days.
John Dunn Bridge and the Rio Grande outside Taos.
Went up one side of Greenie Peak and down the other side into Red River. Ironically, ended up in the middle of a wedding at the top of Greenie and the wedding party was from Oklahoma as well.
Headed up to Montrose and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Very underrated park.
Wrapped up with a few days in Creede. Did Bachelor Loop (just to get to the next trail), Rat Creek Loop (saw 2 huge bull Moose on this one), and then Crystal Lake at 12,000+ feet as an offshoot of the Bristol Peak trail. Crystal Lake trail was fun to try out the mud/rut with several off camber spots along with a few 18 degree/30%+ incline/declines with blind turns at the top.
