Hi all! I recently bought a new Broncos Badlands SAS. On the driver's side and passenger side there is a small bulge of the weather stripping. The dealership said this is normal, but couldn't explain why it's this way. I wanted to ask all you experts if this is normal for a new car and if so, what is the function?

Thanks in advance!

Good afternoon, I would like to take a look into your stripping defect further on my end. Could you please send us a message with you VIN and mileage?

Normal as in yes, I've seen a lot of them pooch in that area, some more than others. Ford usually says compare to a like model as some things are "characteristic" and not thus "normal". Your driver side is probably at the far end of the spectrum where the hitch hiker side is about average.

A new seal may fit better but first thing would be trying some double sided tape (assuming it sticks to both surfaces) and calling it good. Now, if you had a concern of a wind or water leak in that area and dealer verified it, the seal would likely get replaced.

At least yours doesn't leak water from the a pillar.

People need to do their research on the Bronco. They are not quality built. They are a 50k dollar toy made sloppily. The windows sound like they're going to break over bumps if they're cracked, the plastic panels are not aligned well, the paint is paper thin, now the Sasquatch reservoirs are rusting off... it's not a "high quality" vehicle.

Take it to the dealer to fix until the next issue arises and trade it in before warranty is up.

Thank you. I was going to try and fix it up to my standards, but wanted to get people's opinions on here first.

I did take it to the dealer for a separate event and their response when I brought this up was that it's normal, but that I could schedule a diagnostic for a possible warranty claim. Figured I'd come here first.

I've really enjoyed my Bronco so far except for blowing a tire the first time going on a rocky trail 🤣. Blame that on the tires and me not airing down at all
Live and you learn. Everything else has been fine and this seems minor, but it's just the fact I see it every time I get in.

mine has that as well. not as bad as yours on the drivers side but very similar to how your passenger side looks.

You know it might be normal, but it doesn't make it right. I would go back and ask them to make it right. If they say sorry the Ford Rep here already said they would look into it for you. I would open a claim. I hate when they say that is normal. Crappy work is crappy work no matter what.

Go back to your service department with these photos. Inform them that this is what normal looks like.

Agreed. This seems like a QA thing on a cheap part of the car. One would think this would be an automatic replacement. I have reached out to the Ford rep on here. Was pleasantly surprised to see that as this is my first post. Thank you to everyone who has been chiming in!
