I installed the Injen CAI last night in my Badlands 2.7L and immediately got a check engine / SES light. So I bought an OBD scanner and the code it spit off was P1299. I’ve double checked all the hose clamps, CCV tube connection, and the other two connectors next to that and everything looks totally in check. Really frustrating and now planning to take it into the dealer tomorrow morning.

has anyone else experienced or heard of this issue?? this was an extremely frustrating install and frankly, it is very defeating to have this result when it’s all said and done!

If you have a 23 MY, you should expect to have an engine light come on, It's an ongoing issue that they are working on. The odd thing is that is a different code than I have seen and it's not the one that everybody knows of 🤔. I'm currently driving around with the engine light awaiting the fix. I talked with Jay over at ingen last week . They pretty much have the fix, just doing a little more testing hopefully in the next few weeks they'll be able to send out the parts needed. Like I said that's a new code that you're throwing, not sure what that's about.

Everything looks connected! Am I missing something?

There is a cylinder head temperature sensor, service manual illustration earlier. This is not part of the CAI. I'd think the code could be related to that in some fashion since you were working around the area. Particularly if the other engine and coolant temperatures appear normal.

Agreed, I have not seen this code before. I know it's a frustrating install, not easy at all. Lots of things you can hit while doing it.

I would say run back through it again, once you have rested and come down from the frustration. It can be a very simple issue you are overlooking.

sure it looks smoother, but under any load, air is being pumped through the engine instead of being drawn. The stock plumbing would need to be extremely restrictive for there to be any reasonable improvement.

Then both of you have not taken a good look at the stock system. It is extremely restrictive compared to after-market systems, especially compared to the Injen system. But hey I'll keep living in my dreams with my proven results.

I mean one can dream can they not?

I looked for that cylindrical piece and saw nothing in the area that seemed disconnected. I uploaded a photo of that area earlier in case I’m thinking about this wrong?

can I even drive this thing to the dealer with this code? It’s about 10 miles and I do not want to risk causing permanent damage. And to think it all started as just a fun weekend project …

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting any of the wire connections like the IAT sensor? It seems like the computer is not getting some information it needs. Maybe you bumped or broke a connector somewhere or knocked a wire loose.

I posted later that 25hp and 40tq is not nothing. But after being summoned back to this thread topic I see 10 pages of troubleshooting and “engine codes are normal” so I think I’ll keep my money still…

I'm mind blown reading the issues everyone with 23's are having.
Mine is a 22' and I have the full system on intake and hot and cold side plumbing and didn't have these CEL's
Now did you guys who have CEL's did any of you pull the negative battery terminal before install and then plug back up after completed or did you just install and send it?

Ugh - this may have caused the issue with whatever sensor is now angry at me :/ I’ll find out in a couple of days and will update…apparently I was due for a maintenance check in anyway

It MIGHT be worth your time to go unplug the battery let your whole system reset then hook it back up.
Not saying it will work.
And I know it's a pain to go through and rework your settings. But it might help.

You totally misunderstood what I said. My intent and post was aimed towards brkdncr who said "sure it looks smoother, but under any load, air is being pumped through the engine instead of being drawn. The stock plumbing would need to be extremely restrictive for there to be any reasonable improvement."
My meaning was; Why crap on someone's several hundred dollar investment? When doing so adds nothing positive to the conversation. The money was spent, the install was complete and the OP was happy with the results.
I was defending the OP's choice to do as he pleased with his vehicle. I was NOT saying the OEM intake can't be improved on.

@Dialtone : Yes, I indeed misunderstood your post, and since I could not find Brkdncr post I went from yours. So, my apologies.

But as you just said, I do agree. Even if a person may feel they have wasted money, that is YOUR(The person's) opinion. I fail to understand why you are pushing that opinion on someone else, without any actual fact to support it.

Exactly you have a 22, injen themselves are aware of the problem with 23+ and are working on a resolution to the codes, ford either changed the ecm’s in 23 or certain programming in it
